Down to the wire!! Got the elbow grease out today, and started polishing. I had sanded up through 2000 grit. Then broke out the scratch-x

    Then the swirl-x

And ended up all shiney. :D:D:D

Then back to work on the neck. Sanded through the grits.

Then with the scratch-x then swirl-x

Forgot to get an "after" shot of the neck after the polishing - but you'll see it soon enough.

Then tape off the neck to work on the frets.

My fret leveling bar, a piece of 1" thick acrylic.

Then detail work fret by fret. Crown - Polish with sandpaper, then steel wool.

Almost done with this part, but calling it a night.

Tomorrow I think I can finish. Need to finish polishing frets, then clean, polish & oil the fretboard - then assemble all of the parts and do the wiring.

    Until then....

Hmmm... maybe I shouldn't be working on this part underneath so many sharp pointy tools.:eek:

Yesterday I finished polishing the frets

    And installed the nut

    Then finished polishing the body

    Installed the ferrules

    Test fitted the bridge

Wow - glad I didn't have any lacquer to spray!

    Then installed the tuners

Strung up the E-strings to align the neck, and clamped it in place.

Used a fat nail to mark the screw locations.

Drill the heel for the threaded inserts

Tap the hole so that the inserts go in easily

Now we can use machine screws instead of wood screws.

    And attach the neck

    Then oil the fretboard.

I decided that a black pickguard would look better than the laminated veneer one that I spent all that time on... I think it was the re-do of the neck and now with the ebony fretboard. But I'm happy with the way it all turned out.

Drill starter holes for the pickguard screws

Now this part got a little tricky - since this has a 22 fret neck, the neck pickup needs to mount to the pickguard. Which is fine, except that my neck pickup wasn't threaded, so I needed something for the screws to bite into.

So I found some little metal scraps and cut them off and drilled some starter holes in them.

Then I super glued them to the bottom of the pickup.

Now my screws have something to bite into. Just need to add springs.

    Then I wired her up.

    She's just about done.

Just need to add some strings - and some trim...

Pulled an all-nighter to wrap up the details, set the intonation, troubleshoot some buzzes, etc.

And of course, shoot the video:
