I've never seen this before so I had to give it a listen. That song never gets old for me. Playing a Telecaster with a Strat neck. Interesting.
Nice, it dragged me down the YT rabbit hole to a whole bunch of Dick Feller songs
Don Meredith was a country music fan who liked the singer songwriter guys. I remember reading (Texas Monthly?) that Don would host listening parties at his house for artists like Jerry Jeff, Willie Nelson etc. Don had a red light that would cue people to be quiet while the artist's were singing.
“There’s a lot of country music that I don’t particularly care for. Let’s put it this way, there’s some country music I care for much more than others. But the thing that has always fascinated me the most is I love to meet guys that are both songwriters, and can sing, and I like guys that are a little bit out of sync. You know, just a little bit out of sync? I hate ordinary.” DM
He had 2 songs that he released as an artist.
Those were the days.
My buddy almost set Jerry Jeff's hat on fire trying to light his cigarette.
The flame from the BIC lighter was set WAY too high!
my two favorite songs by the boy from brooklyn. Saw him several times back in the old days... great video of him so young! Dandy Don was a pretty good actor too... You could always feel that Don had the ache... I dont know how to put it other than that... just the ache.... He and Ben Johnson make me think of Texas and the very best of things....
Can't believe no one didn't post 'Desparados Waiting' For A' Train. Texas Music is alive and well
Man! I could post tunes all day long. I love Ol' Jackie Jack!! I was lucky enough to see him many, many times. The last time was in NYC at at BB Kings about 10 years ago. His son Django was playing guitar with him then. My favorite guitar player with JJW is John Inmon, of course.
If any of you JJW fans haven't seen the DVD "Live From Dixies Bar & Bus Stop", seek it out!
Love this song...
"...……...his dog up and died.....after 20 years he still grieves."
One of the best lines in any song!
