I'm praying... And praying... And praying some more.

I never met him but he had a larger than life influence on my through his music.

Sounds like he's surrounded by people who love him and that he's getting quality treatment.

Alvin, please keep us updated, and if there's anything we can do, don't hesitate to ask.

Still thinking about Jerry and hope he's doing well enough, I'm sure it's very distressing to ride out the start of recovery. Sending prayers.

I haven't seen him in many years; he was always the most gracious, friendly person imaginable. A monster player, I hope he recovers fully and quickly.

The up date is Jerry has a hemerage in the brain and two ct scans shows swelling and no changes.. So they still can't do surgery. He is responsive and trying to sing and communicate.
They will do another ct scan in 48 hours.

I was just thinking about Jerry the other day when I noticed Jeff Beck pulling off (literally) a few Jerry Donahue-isms at the end of "Shame" on his new album.

I've never met Jerry, but he's my favorite Hellecaster; one of those guys whose playing I LOVE, but will never emulate because it's so unfathomably beyond my skill level. Here's hoping the docs get on top of his problems and the singing gets turned back into playing real soon. Prayers, mojo, and good vibes from the North Country.

Jerry is my favorite living guitar player. Been a fan since a gp interview back in the 80's. The issue had a flex disc of him playing 'The Beak' and 'The Claw'. Got a lot of my string bending stuff from trying to decipher what he was doing. Prayers for a speedy and complete recovery.

They are moving Jerry to better facility, to start doing acute rehab.
He is responding to cards and letters, and it seams to brighten his day. So if any of you want to send him cards or letters, mail them too:

I remember falling asleep on the couch in the late 70s and waking up to Joan Armatrading playing Down to zero with Jerry playing his amazing solo. I thought I was dreaming. Get better please. Prayers sent.

My daughter is an ER doctor....and was one in Florida, so she's seen more strokes than she can count. The "good" news is that there have been tremendous strides in stroke care and therapy....so hoping it goes wonderfully for Jerry.

Oh, my.... I just came across this very sad news here only this evening, and I'm praying for a hopefully speedy and full recovery for Jerry. He's always been a HUGE favorite of mine, and he's simply an amazing Tele-master. I was actually lucky enough to buy one of his Peavey Omniac guitars years ago, being inspired by him and his fantastic playing. (Still have it. Great guitar.)

Looking for more news elsewhere online, I just came across this mid-September article on his situation...

    http://teamrock.com/news/2016-09-12/fairport-convention-ex-jerry-donahue-suffers-stroke

Hoping all the best for Jerry. Kerry Livgren from Kansas had a stroke some years back (maybe 10-12 yrs ago?), and he had a profound loss of speech and was largely paralyzed, but now he’s speaking just fine and even playing (quite good) guitar as a guest sitting in at some various Kansas gigs these past few years. (There are some Kansas videos with him are on YouTube.)

    Get well soon, Jerry...

Ask them to tell him that pretty much ALL of TDPRI is thinking of him.

    Get well soon, Jerry!
