I've been REALLY enjoying the Jensen Mod-12 70 A LOT. It's in one of my old SS Fender combos and just sounds spectacular. It truly does bring out the BF Fender tones and can be had for a great price. Punchy and tight but the top is really nice with the Tele. I had these Jensen Mods in a Peavey Classic 50 410 ( mod 10s sounded amazing ) that I should've kept.

I was looking at other speakers but now I may have to get a few more Jensen Mods. The Jensen Mod 12-110 looks REALLY appealing to try.

Anyone else a fan of the Jensen Mods?

I like them because they sound decent for how cheap they are. Lots of bang for the buck. There are certainly far worse sounding speakers in the Mod price range. Low end Celestions, for example. Yuck.

I have 2 Mod 10-70s and 2 Ragin Cajuns in a Super Reverb Reissue. Took me a while to land there, but the 2 Mods were a mainstay through all kinds of other pairs.

I put a Mod 12 35 watt in an old Pro Jr. *The baffle was (poorly) cut for a 12”.
It sounds good to me. A little boxy in that tiny cab but to be fair, a 10” sounds boxy as well. It’s a tiny cabinet.

Yeah coincidentally I just got a pair of Jensen Mod 8 replacement speakers for my Roland Cube Street amplifier and they sound really good. They were highly recommended to really get the best out of that amp. They only costed $40 bucks apiece new. I din't know they came in 10"s and 12"s also. These look like quality speakers, feel sturdy and sound great. Made in Italy.

Self-admitted fan of the MOD series here.

Two 10-50 in cabs, a 10-35 in one combo, a 10-70 in another with an 8-20 rounding the combo line-up out.
I had a 1x10" cab with a 10-35 fitted. It sounded superb. A little bass light, but in a band mix, it could be heard clearly without overwhelming.

I must admit though, a 12" build went the way of the Jet Falcon 50 in place of the MOD 12-50 or 70 I would have fitted. All the good stuff the MOD brings ( to my ears! ) with just a sprinkle more here and there.

Back around '06-'08, I really started to go nuts with swapping 12s in some of the combos that I had back then, and it was starting to get expensive. The Mod line of speakers cost significantly less than even Eminence, which were much more competitively-priced, at the time.

Anyway, I got a Mod 12-70 for ridiculously little money, and was really shocked at how good it sounded. In my specific case, I actually ended up kind of hooked using it for dirty tones - it had this unique tonality with a Marshall-like amp that wasn't unlike Alex Lifeson's overdriven/lead tone on some of the first few Rush albums, and maybe also like some of the guitar tones on Aerosmith's Rocks album.

I actually really ended up overworking that single Mod 12-70 in a 1X12 cab that I was using with a 2204'ish Marshall head, so I started to look for something with similar voicing, but a more stout construction. I remember emailing Ted Weber asking if he either had something similar, or could make something similar, and he told me no!

To this day, I still don't know if I can say that there's another 12 that has the same voicing as the Mod 12-70. I've since been through a lot more 12s at all kinds of price points, and none really nail that 70's harder rock kind of sound.

I got a Vox AD15VT back in '05, and it was a great amp from the factory, except for the speaker. Sometime later, I got a Mod 8-20 for it, and it's been in that amp ever since - sounds fantastic. I still have that amp to this day!

Thank you for that confirmation! Coincidentally, those are the exact tones I'm after for this amp in which it does quite SUPERB! Lifeson specifically. Highly agree, there's something unique going on with the Mod 12-70 that none of my other cabs or combos do. Glad to see you as another fan of 'em!

The Mod 10s and the only one's I've used, and I like 'em. Huge bang for the buck.
When CE DIST first started selling them you could mix and match ten speakers to get free shipping. They had a nice 4ohm 8 and 4ohm 12’s for bassman head combos

Had that one, too, and thought it was pretty good at the time. I moved on to bigger tube amps and kinda wish I'd kept it. I liked it better than a Bues Junior I had for a week before I returned it.

I have a Jensen MOD 12-50 in my 5E3 and it sounds fantastic in that amp. It came with the kit I built from Tube Depot and based on the low cost of the speaker I was not expecting how good it sounds, it turned out to be a great match for the amp. I tried swapping in a few other speakers but the MOD always ended up back in there, and it is staying there. It also has a low efficiency rating, from memory, it is about 94dB which makes the amp more useful at home volumes for me.

I've got a Jensen JCH 10/35, is that the same? Warmer than the C10r, seems to distort earlier I think it has lower sens.

I believe it is, with the only difference being the name. Speakers exported to the U.S. are labeled 'MOD', while exports to the other parts of the globe are labeled 'Chicago'.

They’re the only Jensens I’ve ever tried that I actually like. And I like them just fine.
I have a Jensen Mod 10"-35 that I hope to put into an empty Vox Pathfinder cab ( baffle modded for 10") to use as occasional cab for my Vox Pathfinder 15R ( which I will leave alone, with Celestion 8")

I also have an 8" MOD as a replacement if ever needed in that same Pathfinder, or my 'fake Champ'

- so I have 2 Jensen MODS, but not yet used!

They're pretty good for the $.
10-30 a bit lacking in lows to my ears. Maybe good in a warm amp.
10-70 a bit too warm. Maybe good in a bright amp!
10-50 about right!
I have a Mod 10-50, mounted & tested only, dont have the right home for it I should sell.
