Grace Slick grew up in my neighborhood, long before my time!
Not before MY time. There was NOTHING like Grace! I still just adore her.
They were often quite good on stage, in this case even after being up all night doing who knows what. Grace looks very focused here, Marty not so much.
Yes, I've watched this footage for 50 years, and Grace was completely dialed in for their set. Never better, never more beautiful and awesome.
Loved Grace Slick! Probably saw them 5-10 times.
This one is awesome.
You really have to be a senior citizen to get how great this stuff is and how cool Grace was.
My fantasy was just to sit down and talk with her .
Grace Slick & The Great Society .
Still a fan, but "We built this city" forever tainted her musical reputation. I can't believe the same woman who was at Woodstock produced that trash.
In the town where I grew up, there was a woman like Grace. A true hippie, super-intelligent, so tuned in, and beautiful. Everyone in town who was anyone knew her or knew of her - kids and parents - and everyone who talked with her considered her a guru. She had legendary status. A good 4 years older than me and when you're 16, that's a mile.
One mid-day she came wandering through or suburban neighborhood where the cool kids hung out. I happened to be hanging outside that day. None of the "older" folks her age were around but she wanted to see some of them, so she stayed and hung out with me all afternoon until they showed up in the early evening.
It was like traveling to India and meeting with the Maharish. But a hot Maharish. Needless to say, it boosted my hippie street creds to a level I never could have achieved as I was too young to catch that wave.
edit that is why you have to rehearse.
Yeah, I'm sure she's crying all the way to the bank...
