Ok, I chose one. What were the criteria supposed to be, again?

I won't choose a favorite because they are all fantastic but I've learned the most guitar playing that I actually play from listening to Eric Clapton

But nobody can create better guitar riffs than Jimmy Page and layer guitars the way he did

And nobody knows the pitch of every measurable atom on a guitar string better than Jeff Beck

Beck is the virtuoso. Clapton is the phrasing king. Page is the riff master.

Outside of Pete Townshend, Jimmy Page was my number one inspiration for learning guitar. Shortly after I started playing, one of the local Philadelphia stations (I think WMMR) played what was later released as their BBC Concerts hearing them live (or live in the studio at least) was a revelation. They had such power. And those later songs with all the layered guitars ("Stairway," "The Rain Song," "Kashmir," "Ten Years Gone," and "Achilles' Last Stand" were brilliant. Of course, Page had a secret weapon as a guitarist: John Paul Jones as arranger. I think of Led Zeppelin as the hard-rock equivalent of the Beatles' pop -- they could play in so many styles, while retaining their hard rock core.

Beck is a brilliant lead guitarist, but often the songs aren't there (YMMV), and Clapton I run hot and cold with. I love the Bluesbreakers and Layla albums, and I like some of his mid-'80s material, but his softer country-inspired '70s period doesn't do that much for me. (Again, YMMV.)

Clapton because out of the three he is the best songwriter and singer. He is also the only one I actually like to listen to. Huge admiration and respect for Beck and page but their music is not my cup of tea

You're voting on whether you like Ginger, Maryann, or Mrs. Howell more. I choose Mrs. Howell, 'cause she has all the Benjamins.

While I admire Beck and Clapton as guitarists, Page gets my vote because of the songs

I liked the Mark Farner Yardbirds the best. Didn't care so much for the Tommy Bolin replacement era.
