Another query for you experts. Anyone have any experience with these monitors? I purchased a set (haven't received them yet), for use with my very basic home recording outfit. I did some basic research and found that there were some complaints about a "hum". Other than that, seemed pretty positive. Any thoughts or comments? Thanks in advance!

I received the JBL's...nice condition. They're powered (bi-amped). Found they were around $500 each when they came out (95 or something). Got them both, delivered for less than 150. Anxious to try them out. I was torn about spending a few hundred on new monitors that most folks here have said were less than adequate, and finding some good used ones. I hope I made a wise purchase!

Dont know anything about them but congrats on the good deal.
I'm sure they are better than my little Edirol monitors, which are doing the job for me.

EDIT....i meant "just barely"

That's a good deal, I use Genelex monitors myself (also self powered with Graphic EQ on the back) but I bought them here in the UK, and a pair cost me £500 I guess that would be about $750?

Don't know much about the JBL's But if they sound good you got a bargain!

They are good monitors , but its true they hum bad. I think its something in the power supply. I had a pair and tried everything cables , isolating the monitors. I could not get rid of it. They sound great but I couldnt live with the buzz / hum thing they were doing.I went back to my Tannoy Precision 8 D`S. I really hope its different for you. Post back and let us know if yours also do this.
