Yeah, I'm an old fart jazzer. Love it. Live it. Play it. Studied it in college.
I'm too old to play out or gig. Something about lugging around a heavy amp and an expensive guitar through a dark alley at night to some shady speak easy just doesn't appeal to me.
I'm also a horn player. Tenor sax.
Kenny Burrell, Al DiMeola, Joe Pass, Pat Martino, Grant Green. I love me some Grant Green.

    Agreed.
George Barnes also used a nice, bright tone.
His work with Ruby Braff is excellent.

Love some good jazz. ...but I say that about any genre.

I have Joe Pass' Meditation as my ring tone.

Love it! Swings like a gate on a well-oiled hinge!

For anyone interested in "cowboy jazz", Jimmy Bryant is a must-listen. This is my favorite album of his, (the Speedy West stuff is almost too fast all the time for me), but it's been out of print for years. I think I downloaded a copy from one of those free download sites, years ago

Has anyone mentioned Kurt Rosenwinkel? He's a current standard bearer.

Anyone mention Pasquale Grasso? His left hand is like a spider! (His left hand fingers are actually longer than his right's!)

Allow me to post this as a welcome to someone I just discovered to be a member here, a truly amazing musician, educator and tele-wielder:

In the spirit of this thread, I picked some of his most swinging performances on the interweb.

Love it as a listener. Not in my wheelhouse as a player. I'm more of a ham fisted blues based rock player.

That wasn't me, but that guy is great! You can find the tracks from the actual Jimmy Bryant record on YouTube.

Jimmy Bryant just might be the most underrated Tele player ever... at least in his day.
