Here's a video done by Ernie Ball of Jason Isbell talking about guitars, amps and his career all while playing some nice gear.

In case you can't make it through, he says his dream guitar sound has been obtained by playing through a 58 Bassman and a 64 Vibroverb, as well as a Klon Centaur and an Analogman compressor. So save your pennies, kids!

Stupid me. I thought string theory envisioned spacetime made up of 9 spatial dimensions and one temporal dimension with 6 of the spatial dimensions compactified and curled becomming increasingly important at distances approaching the Planck Length, 1.616x10^-35m. (That's inconceivably small to most folks.) M-theory adds an additional compactified spatial dimension. Think of particles as strings or loops with properties determined by their vibrational states in these compactified dimensions. The vibrational states of guitar strings are pretty simple in comparison. Ya think? o_O

I think that '59 Les Paul he referred to used to belong to Ed King. Not sure if it's the one he is playing in the video or not.

    I found it interesting.
I didn't know who Jason Isbell even was. Still don't really.

One of my favorites from Jason Isbell.

This entire concert is good, but one of my favorites is the last song, at 1:23:50 on this video. The slide part at the end is killer.

He certainly gets the most out that unobtanium gear- it's definitely not lost on him, but I thought he sounded just as good 15 years ago in the Drive By Truckers.

Had to laugh at the part about his left ear- mine rings too, for the same reason.

I first came across him when he was with Drive By Truckers, and they wore worse for losing him.

I’ve seen him live a number of times, starting in tiny bars, then up to larger auditoriums. He’s always seemed like a good guy, and he earned and deserves the success he’s found.

The guy can play a guitar, and the last time I saw him, he closed with a pretty impressive run through “Whipping Post.”

Great writer, signer and picker. By all accounts he got his **** together too, which is nice.

"I want you to tell me something on guitar, not show me something."

    "Communication, not display."

    Awesome.

I've been digging this song lately. Maybe some can relate.

Thanks for that. He is so smart, a fan of other musicians and centered. One of my fave players and songwriters. Dress Blues, the song, nearly brings me to tears.

Dig him backing up Amanda Shires, who he is married to.

Love Jason. Nashville Sound my album of the year last year! Or was it 2018? Caught him live too.

I was thinking this post was more about theoretical physics than what it was about. And yes, theoretical, cutting edge, physics is probably tougher than the partial differential equations describing string vibrations. Though those aren’t necessarily child’s play either for a plucked string...

    Interesting video, nonetheless.
