I'm not a fan of most modern country and don't really know that much about Jason Aldean.

But MAJOR props to the guy and his band for that SNL opener.
And he followed that up with a visit to some of the victims and their families in Vegas the next day.

I certainly won't be saying anything negative about him.

He deserves our respect. As for singing flat, isn't that a country thang?

I felt bad for criticizing given the circumstances, but in the moment I couldn't help but shudder at his horrendously off-key singing. I am a sensitive human but also a musician. Props for doing the last minute tribute in such emotionally trying times.

I don't see it me mentioned here, but I cudda missed it:

On the national televised fund raiser after 9/11, Tom Petty did "I Won't Back Down."
Straight into the camera his strength and conviction flew. Riveting.

Wow, just went to YouTube to see what all the fuss was about. I've played a few Jason Aldean songs a few years ago while backing a country singer. I'm not a big fan, but I don't hate him either. I don't think it was a good performance vocally, but not worth all the attention it's getting here.

What I thought was sad was some of the garbage being posted on there (YouTube) about him. A lot of folks were calling him a coward. I'm sure everyone knows exactly how they are going to react when bullets are flying and people are dying when an unexpected surprise attack takes place, especially since we all experience it everyday. Realistically, I think we all hope to do the right thing, but none of us ever know until it happens. I'm not sure what else he could have done other than yell into the mic (if it was still hot). There was even a 41 minute video where some guy claims that he knew about it beforehand and how his "illuminati tattoos" prove he's satanist. Man, some people are scary and the internet just shows how many scary folks are out there when you read some of the comments, but for me sometimes it's like the proverbial train wreck that you can't look away from.

I just watched it on youtube. Sure, Jason was straining on the chorus a bit but the choice of songs seemed a fitting tribute.

The musician in me thought Jason's band played the hell out of that song!

Wait a minute....so they are saying he is a “coward” because he hightailed it the hell out of there? That’s smart!

What was he supposed to do? Shake his fist at the shooter and yell “I’ll show you!”?

Just remember these guys recorded it. Pretty hard to measure up to that. Ringo, George Harrison, and Jeff Lynne.

While I somewhat agree with you,I don't think it really mattered, since it was heartfelt. I'm thinking you must be awfully picky
about your bar bands though. You're there to drink listen to music and maybe dance! It wasn't just for Tom Petty, though. It was a tribute to the victims.
I was genuinely surprised at Jason Aldean's performance.I thought he was better than that.I didn't expect him to cop the vocal delivery, but that was pretty bad.The band was also pretty flat.Probably too simple for them,I don't know.
