    I can't help it.

Am I alone in this, or does seeing picks jammed under the edges of the pick guard cause others to wince in pain for the poor Tele?

    Maybe I can be converted.

It doesn't make me cringe, but I never saw the point in it.

Guilty as charged. It's just the fastest way to grab a pick on the fly anywhere on stage. I'll take it over tape any day.

As long as they're not doing it to your guitar what's the problem?

I only do it with a tortoiseshell pick, so that's ok right?

Tape means you have arrived! (When your pick collection is worth more than your guitar collection, there is not enough pickguard real estate to hold them all!)

most of my gits have 3 plys that don't warp/bend enough for that. Mic stand is the best place for add'l picks IMO.

If its good enough for Buddy Holly, it's good enough for me.

The audience gets the mic stand picks, but the underguard picks are all mine baby! You gotta show some skin to get one of those!

There's no way I could jam my 3mm picks under my pick guard.

Off course you can , I actually loosen one pickguard screw if its needed to do the trick......
OTOH , dont get me started on all those people who use their mic stand as a showcase for all of their picks.....wtf ???
I have never dropped a pick during a gig , who on earth would need 50 extra picks ????

Weird. I used to do that on my Tele Deluxe and first Strats but not for 30 years or so now. Not sure why I stopped. Maybe because I don't break or drop many now.

I have 2 or 3 stuffed under every pickguard. Even my p-bass from back in my punk days when I would give myself blisters. I still use it when I need a brighter faster attack than I can get with my fingers. But picks everywhere is my preference

It's sort of like shoving bamboo shoots under your finger nails...picks in the pocket.

I do it, works great for songs that need strumming and fingerpicking. A few picks have between known to disappear under there though...

Yes and when they do it on a strat it bends the pg and raises the neck pickup so it really is harmful.
