..or turn it loose
The guy defined “groove” for us every time he delivered groove. This is from the period where he deconstructed everything into rhythm. He and everyone in the band are singing or playing rhythm. I can’t tell if that’s a young Bootsy Collins on bass, or not. Some of my favorite music!
I'm a sucker for The Good Foot, but love a lot of those old JB tunes.
That is the sh*t.
Love James Brown....
let's do it on the 1
What a force of nature.
He really did influence our approach to doing shows. Regimentation, and discipline - a good way to get kids acting as a unit. I'm not saying we achieved all that but time to time we were trying - and that was good. Yeah, we did have matching dashikis.
But I'm gonna get out of line here and say this performance of "Get it Up" could be better. The groove could be funkier. Still, the best performance by some of the other stars/recording artists of the day wouldn't have been half this good.
