AE19115D-8B92-4201-8233-21C08A97860A.jpeg So I have had this Jaguar body and neck hanging around for the last two years waiting for finish. I am thinking clear neck amber color for the body, as the pick guard looks great next to the neck of my other guitar. The pick guard is a non negotiable feature.
So the hold up has been I feel like a lighter tobacco burst may be cool as well. Possibly even a solid color, Although the grain is pretty nice and the body is damn near one piece. Anyway, I have an idea what I want to do. Let me know if you have any better ideas or if you think the amber is the best route. If you have any sample pictures of your idea send those along too. Thank you in advance.

If you're gonna build a guitar and you already have Tort you should do the right thing. Follow your heart and your heart will lead you to Daphne.

I voted “solid color” because I love tort with a good paint finish. I should say that I am not a fan of burst finishes, but for some reason I like them on Jaguars and Jazzmasters. I don’t know why that is. Anyway, if it were mine, I’d be thinking Lake Placid Blue, but wondering if a burst might be better. And good on you for making that beautiful pickguard non-negotiable.

Edit: solid colour requires matching headstock.

Well, if you already have blue, I’m changing my vote to amber clear.

I feel like that would look great in Crimson Transparent. It's not vintage (I think it dates to the early 90s Fender catalog, but it combines a bold, rich solid color that would complement that guard with a transparent finish that would showcase that grain, at least on close inspection.

My next choice would be a metallic solid color. I think Burgundy Mist, Sherwood Green and Candy Apple Red would all fit nicely with that guard.

I like amber, but I feel like it's overdone on more commonplace teles. I think White Blonde would look much more tasteful and less cliche.

I do like sunburst also, but I feel they are even more overdone. Maybe a Tobacco Burst or red-to-orange sunburst might be cool, but not the standard 2-color or 3-color offerings Fender typically does.

I keep thinking Olympic white for the solid color choice but... 97A05788-EC90-44D5-B171-38BB27F6C82F.jpeg It is desert sand but I would still call it white. I haven’t ruled out white but I don’t really want repeat colors.I do like the transparent color idea though. I also have a Black Tele, Natural thinline, and a cherry SG. Thank you for the ideas. Please kee em coming.

I'm doing a Jazzmasterish build based on this color combo ( found on Offset Guitars). Elegant, like a gentleman in a serious suit.

I'm following this thread because I screwed up a Squire Mustang finish by trying to remove some stubborn stickers and need to do a repaint.
