I've resisted the iPad for a while now, but...

That does look pretty cool, though i'd be afraid of some ***hole stepping on it during a show or something... There should be some sort of protection for the screen. Props to digitech for being innovative though.

Yes, I had the same thought.

    I'm tempted though.

That does look pretty neat, but it also looks like a toy. Any idea how much they're asking for it, I know Ipads aren't cheap and then you throw in the price of that. I think I would save my money and buy some real pedals YMMV tho.

I like it, I wish Boss would come out with it though, I like their pedals better than digitech... what would be really fun would be to have all the boutique guys have a common code base and sell their pedals through itunes... that would be really fun! (at 4.99 a pedal! wow!)

Hi there! Wouldn't protection make it difficult to use the touch screen of the iPad?

It seems like a nice tool actually. Imagine the apps you can use if digitech licenses other makers.

    Wow.

I'm the tech guy at my school and we got a bunch of iPads from a grant proposal. They are definitely "all that". I bet this is an amazing rig!

I'm not concerned, yet, about it taking the place of anything. There are sooo many independent and GREAT builder/designers, now. They won't all be on the iPad (for awhile, at least). Getting a signature sound can come from so many places.

Hmmm...could be just a matter of time, though. Whatever...

It's not worth it lol. I have an I-pad 2 already and the digitech app is free but the pedal controller is something like $600 and the app can run fine without it and it would be a lot cheaper just to go out and buy like a rp-1000 or rp-500. This thing is mainly for show.

All it takes is one clumsy foot...

Hey here's an idea: how about digitech loses the lame LCD displays and comes out with a real color display by themselves. You know, without having to hijack an iPad to do it for them.

This is the way it's going. Whilst the naysayers might poo-poo the idea and post the rolling eyes icon, in just a few years and with the speed of micro, nano and printed plastic electronics, this is the way it's going to go. ;)

I remember a conversation in the pub not too long ago about CDs versus downloading music and even the naysayers then are.....downloading music.

Yes, I thought of that after I posted the reply. Doh!

What I feel could work better is having a mic stand mount for the ipad which then connects with a cable to the footcontroller. I don't see the benefit of having the touch screen if it is not near you to manipulate.

I think this sort of technology will become popular but don't think it'll take over. It's like tube amps. The high watt ones that weigh so much. Why bother? Because they sound awesome.

I'm pretty sure Boss is already on it.

And if they aren't, they probably are now.

Hang on, several Boss pedals are already modelled on the app:

With the amp models listed, there's just about all I'll ever need.

I'll be interesting to hear the effects and amp models. I am for the record a valve amp guy but modelling is getting better and better.
