Isn't that just how a proctologist advertises their profession?

"harm" in the sense of no outage, no functionality loss.

If the test of harm on the forum is no one got killed, well, that's a pretty darn low bar!

What I was trying to say in my earlier post is that I get it, inheriting a large, old software project can be a bear to run and maintain. If these outages and site errors are just 'how it's done' now, with no formal testing of anything except in production, well, that's not very good. No way that's been the norm all along. The site usually hummed incredibly smoothly. But if it's just the learning pains - thought it was a non-issue, turned out to be a hairball - well, hopefully lesson learned, and set up a testbed for future work.

To say that outages and site errors that remove basic functionality like being able to post don't matter because they don't qualify as 'harm'... well, what other job does the forum have, after all? This is it's business. As I said, hopefully it'll smooth out. But it won't do so without some effort and the correct policy (including proper communication) on the part of the new owners. That is all. I'm off to bed.

I’m just glad to see the home tab back, and response times seem to be pretty snappy now. No more double posts, and the lines of communication have improved. A positive direction.

When this type of thing happens, I worry about getting a virus- so, an explanation would be nice.
I'm not a techy- just a guitar player.
    That's all.

A little while ago, our bank's online system was out of service for three days. This was not a scheduled outage. People couldn't pay bills, transfer money or check account status and balances. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/brit...ed-after-nearly-3-days-says-vancity-1.4853751
This was far more serious than the TDPRI being offline for a day or two. Nobody really needs the TDPRI, and the outages really just interrupted our online socializing. I think a little perspective is useful.

First they came for a guy that dissed the Grateful Dead, and I did not speak out,
Because I liked the Grateful Dead.

Then they came for a guy that put his post in the wrong forum, and I did not speak out,
Because I always put my posts in the correct forum.

Then they came for they came for a guy that made a joke about politics, and I did not speak out,
Because I never posted about politics.

Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me.
