It's the bridge for me I reckon. Or the control plate...

    Hello to everyone,
My name's Gaz and I love telecasters. Infact, I owe my career to a telecaster but not in the conventional sense.

When I was at uni I was skint. Very skint. And fairly lazy when it came to university work. Then, one holiday I was at home, sat on the family computer staring at guitars I couldn't afford (like we all do, at least once a week). It wasn't even a good one, I'm fairly certain it was on like this.

My father saw it and in a throw away remark stated "I'll buy you that if you get a 2:1" (the second highest grade at english universities).

And that was it, I studied, I tried, I stayed in the libary from 7 in the morning til 3 in the morning for weeks and in the end, I got my 2:1.

I then got to walk into my local music shop, and ask for a 2013 American Standard Telecaster, with custom shop pickups (not humbuckers!) in sunburst.

Watching my Dad pay for it was far more satisfying that wearing a silly hat and being given a piece of paper. But that's how a telecaster changed my life, I wouldn't be anywhere near as successful without that throw away comment.

Congratulations on both counts! I hope you were able to get that skint thing cleared up.

Well, that's all a matter of perspective isn't it. Compared to uni me, I'm Scrooge McDuck. But I'm no where near affording a rosewood tele!

    Welcome Gaz from Shropshire.
I've been there many times on the Shroppie Union. Lovely part of the country.
