    Call it a pukecaster?

Baby puke blonde wasn't what I had in mind. I guess part of the problem is that it's roasted Swamp Ash, but aside from that, there's some weirdness in the finish that makes me think this may have been someone's first paint shop lesson.

My original plan was to do something like a '54 Esquire. A white guard however is just going to accentuate the green tones. A mint guard might work. Or, I may just send this ugly thing back altogether.

    It's....different... :) :D

Maybe black is the way to go for the pickguard and accessories.

Thank goodness it's not pumpkin. The takeover of October/November by pumpkin spice everything effectively counteracts all that is wonderful about Halloween.

My Squier P90 Tele was that colour. I eventually got rid because that mixed with the raw neck made the guitar look nauseous, if that’s possible for a guitar!

I see nothing wrong with that color.

    Ditto!
It requires a tortoise shell pickguard, IMO.

Funny, if I keep it, the neck that will get paired with this is raw roasted Maple. Not only that, but it's already well used and dirty.

my model even looks unwell when Greg’s playing it. I’m going to dub it “banana blonde”.

I’m fancying a roasted neck recently... And Shell Pink... Hmmm....

I know most players probably don't see things the same way, but for me, if it plays great and sounds fantabulous.. the appearance stuff really doesn't matter that much.

I'm sure most everyone here has wandered into a guitar store, looked around at all the flashy new things hanging on the walls, and then having a good demo of each of those, went over to the humble beat up thing over in the corner pick it up and then find the nugget in the rough. It's one reason I tend to not react to appearances of a guitar -- emphasis should be on 1). what sounds best and 2). how it plays. How it looks is how it looks -- if it is pleasing.. great. If not, so what?
I doubt Willie Nelson will voluntarily disown Trigger anytime soon!

Re: OP guitar -- looks fine to me!
Now, put it back together and go play it!!!

Can we make Phrygian play Mixolydian though? :D

I’m in the camp of those that like it. I could see it as a blackguard, tortoise or parchment - all three would look great on that.

Major with a dominant 7th immediately makes me think Dickey Betts Allman Brothers songs like Jessica.

Probably going to go blackguard Esquire.

It looks like the paint was rolled or brushed on. I like it but I like mongrels. I think they're great because you aren't precious about them. You swap out pick ups and necks and find what works. It sits out instead of in its case so it's easier to grab and noodle on. Mongrels are under rated guitars.

That's horrific. It looks like it was brushed on over a partially stripped body. Send it back or ask for a partial refund to compensate you for the time and materials to refinish it. I couldn't live with that finish much less the color.

Just a note about those photos...there seems to be an artifact in them that makes the finish look more blotchy than I think it may be...and the pattern is the same on both photos. I'm not suggesting the color is good; just that I think that the photos are not quite accurate.

There are shadows and reflections in the images. However, the odd color variation between the lighter/yellower grain fill and the darker/greener Swamp Ash is very much there.

Send it back and shop for a Squier Afinity body in butterscotch blonde, on eBay.
