Just had a chat with my wife, and the topic of wah pedals came up (she plays as well, so this for us is kinda normal!) My old beloved Thomas Organ Crybaby has just about given up the ghost (treadle keeps falling apart) so it's time to get a new one-wife suggests "don't buy one-your birthday is coming in a couple weeks!-hint hint!!! So I think I know what's coming-but which one?

I LOVE the sound of my Cry Baby, it nails that 70's sound perfectly, so I want something in that same vein. I'm also a set and forget kind of guy, so a minimum of bells and whistles are a good thing too-I'd rather be playing than tweaking! Vox 847 is a good possibility, Hendrix signature is another (had one back in the day, regretted selling it!). i'certainly open to other ideas as well, but I'm going to keep the budget to ~$150, to spare my wife's bank account!

So, fire away with ideas, demos, etc! Thanks in advance!

Just bought a T-Rex Shafter for under $100 - fantastic pedal and I have a very nice wah from Fulldrive but this one is way better and so teakable. Since T-Rex is regrouping business wise they have them over half off at the link below. I've picked up 4 of T-Rex pedals from them in the past 3 months.. they make it to the states in a week or less usually. Fantastic deal on fantastic gear - good luck and happy birthday

The Teese RMC Picture wah is awesome for that Italian quack, Wilson Wah’s are great, or just find another Thomas Organ (I have one with the SOD inductor, looooove it).

My Thomas Organ Cry Baby is still okay and I love when you find that sweet spot on them!

    Good luck finding a replacement...maybe a GEM?

I had a Morely Wah back in the late 70's / early 80's. That is one bit of kit I do regret selling. It was a chunky piece of kit - but sounded awesome.

Well, stumbled across this on Sweetwater (also on YouTube) this actually helps A LOT...

To my ears and tastes, either the Hendrix or Clyde McCoy sound the best-don't care for the pedals with really cranked up Q and excessive quackiness (the 535 they start off with being a prime example!). YMMV of course, which is why they sell so many of them!

To answer a number of people here:

    1) Never liked Morley pedals, the clunk factor is too much, and my pedalboard can barely hold a CryBaby/Vox as it is-no Bad Horsie for you!!
    2) Heard a LOT about Teese wahs, but they are too pricey for the bank account...
    3) The T-Rex Shafter looks interesting but they're not on sale on this side of the pond, unfortunately...

Was able to put the treadle back together, and installed a fresh battery, now my old pedal sounds and plays like itself again-still doesn't mean I won't be getting another wah pedal, though! At this point, I'm leaning towards the Hendrix wah-while the Clyde McCoy is slightly better, the Hendrix fits the budget nicely!

I am not familiar with your pedal, and I hope this doesn't terribly inexperienced. Could you remove and adapt the electronics of your pedal into another pedals casing and treadle.

I'm simple, I'd just get another standard Cry Baby. Had mine since the 90s. I developed squeals and scratches at some point – used it more and these are gone. It's an indestructible gadget!
