    Winter has officially come early.

Temperatures Tuesday were in the low 70's. Wednesday (today) the high was 48. Tonight we are looking for record (for the date) lows in the mid-20's. Possible snow in the valley for tomorrow morning.

I like the cold better than the heat, but this is just too d**n early.

Oh well. I won't stop wearing my shorts and sandals until November. I swear it!

I am not ready either....that is why I am still awake. I have to get up in 5.5 hours and deliver mail in the rainy cold. Nope, not ready for winter.

I know the term is "climate change" with emphasis on "warmer" but it seems in north America we're getting longer colder seasons the past few years. I was snowed in in So Cal mountain in late May of this year! Only a day or two but.... Didn't even get hot in Tucson til June....

I work from home now, so I don't get out much. Every once in a while, I get a taste for Speedway (gas station chain here) coffee. Unless is is single digits or below, I just throw on shoes and a light jacket with my T-shirt and gym shorts and do the 2 mile drive, and into the store for coffee and a fountain drink for the Mrs.

You would think I'm the only one. Nope. While I am not "at goal weight", I often see heavy set younger men in shorts and flip-flops throughout the winter. It is more and more common every day.

I wear a T-shirt and gym shorts all winter at home with no socks or shoes. My wife wears insulated leggings, a T-shirt, a sweatshirt, and two pairs of socks. This is our compromise over the thermostat; we set it at 69, I am a bit warm, and she layers up to be a bit cold.

That definitely hasn't been the case east of the Mississippi and certainly not in the Southeast where we're coming off 2-3 of the hottest years I can recall. Here in Georgia we started getting into the 90s in May and the first week of October we had highs in the upper 90s that set record highs 3-4 days in a row.

To put it in perspective, our average number of days above 90 degrees in Atlanta is 37, we've had 91 this year which is an all time record.

The north/south freeway (I-15) through the eastern part of the state from Utah to Montana was closed yesterday due to extreme snow. At least that's what I got from local news. That side of the state usually gets more snow than we do anyway, but jeez, its still early October.

Ft Worth is currently 79 degrees.....expected high of 92 today. Tomorrow's high 64 degrees. (low of 43) THEN back to 88 degrees by Monday. It's a real rollercoaster.

Get out your humidifiers! There will be no warpage in my household!

It gets really dry in MN during the winter - is it the same for you all?

10 in the morning, sun has been up for a couple of hours, no wind, clear bright sky, and 30 degrees. It got down to 25 degrees shortly before sun up. At least there apparently wasn't any snow.
