There's tons of good deals on amps...

And when you don't got an amp all you can find is overpriced stuff or utter junk.

    Funny weird....Not funny haha

People want new prices for used gear. When I point that out, they take offence and call me a lowballer. Funny stuff when I still see their amp for sale a year later.

If you believe you can, or you believe you can't, you're right.

It's odd how sometimes the selections come in bunches.

Thirty years ago I wanted to find something more powerful than my 1965 Deluxe Reverb and finally located a SF Pro Reverb that sounded pretty good but was in rough shape. Within a month I found a SF Super Reverb that looked pristine so I bought that and put the Pro up for sale. Then I had a chance at a BF Tremolux but didn't jump on it because I would need to sell the Super which I really didn't want to do.

Dumb decision in hindsight. But I still have the old Deluxe Reverb so there's that.

The conditions might be related. If you sold your amp, its because someone wanted it worse than you did, and willing to pay more for it than you felt it was worth to keep. That might indicate the market is rising, and prices are going up. So, others sold for the same reason at the same time, and first sellers ran out, purchased, and exhausted the supply of cheaper priced alternatives, and all that's left is the higher priced items.

The opposite happens, and I think its happening right now on vintage stuff. I've noticed prices have dropped across the board on vintage acoustic instruments. Herringbones are worth about half from 10 years ago, Loars are down, flatheads are down, L5s, Mark VIs, Collin-Mezin's - all substantially down. Given that there is a fixed number of these from yesteryear, the supply is now up, meaning folks are selling, anticipating continued stagnant or negative appreciation.

It seems like I never notice a certain model of car until I buy one, and then I see them everywhere.

What is it that you’re looking for? Now I’m curious. Sounds like you’re after something specific.

Just a cheapie junker for my weird looping noodling stuff. I actually just pulled the trigger on a slightly overpriced peavey studio pro 112 so yeah!

That's a documented, proven psychogical phenomenon. I don't recall its name, but you're far from alone.
