So at 65 years old I decide now would be a good time to learn new things. Stuff some of you folks can do in your sleep. So this is my first attempt at a refinish and electronic changes.

I used these GFS pickups. I'm a big fan of the Alnico Fatbody with oversized poles in the neck, and while I like the foil bridge by itself, I don't think it ended up being a good combination. The neck totally overpowers the bridge. So maybe a swap is already in order for the bridge.

Qualifying this rating with I had no idea what I was doing every single step of the way and there were many do-overs, I'm giving myself an 8 out of 10. There are a few finish flaws but not too bad.

It won't be everyone's cup of tea but I like it and I finally have my long coveted paisley Tele. Everybody has to start somewhere, just wish I would have started 40 years ago. Now I suffer from old cranky guy syndrome when things don't go right.:p

Wow!!! That is incredible! Pretty darn good for not knowing what you're doing. That leather pickgaurd is a perfect fit.

Holy Pimp My Tele, Batman! [smashes yellow-gloved fist into open palm]

That is *beautiful*. It's almost a shame to have to get musical stink all over it...but you know what you have to do :)

    You have skillz, OldDave!

I’ve seen a silk tapestry covered Cabronita guard, but I’ve DEFINITELY never seen a wallpapered body. Sorry, stealing this
    Gorgeous.
    Did you make the guard?
Just started ‘tooling’ around with them myself

While I'd love to take credit, oh heavens no. There is a Reverb seller who makes the leather guards. Paid nearly the same for that as the guitar. :p It took a few attempts to get the wallpaper correct, finally successful with a thinned down Titebond. Just have to make sure there is not even the tiniest little booger under the paper.

    It's a GFS XGP neck.
