i'd never gig wearing one, unless it was like a luau themed gig or something
I've got tons of the bright colorful ones, but this is one of my faves
Dark! and sorta Lynch-ian
A friend got a trad Hawaiian shirt and wondered why the buttons faced in. He liked it but said it was a hassle to put on.
Vikings wrote a song for Johnny Cash, too. “I’ve Been Everywhere”.
Very few know this.
A couple more cool subdued ones, from the collection
Today though I'm wearing this, I hope the co-workers brought their shades-
This is awesome and I'm stealing it
The tackier, the better.
Not for haoles.
I'd say more they are totally for haoles.
And, you know, rearrange those letters just a bit, and they are for those types, too!
There's one still on the wishlist
Some others from the collection
I have exactly one Hawaiian shirt, a Kahala. I don’t know where I got it but am guessing my wife bought it at an estate sale? I love it: it breathes well so it’s great for summer days or dinner out in that season. I’ve had it forever but it looks good.
I treasure the thing and treat it well, rarely washing it then a brief dryer on low and then out onto a hanger. I thought I’d get a couple more so I can wear one a bit more often, then I looked them up. Yikes, and the good ones are never on sale!
Balance that against the fact that they are formal wear. Still lots cheaper than a decent suit and tie. If I can’t wear my Kahalas there, I ain’t goin’
who buys new clothes? i mean, other than socks and underwear. I mean, what am I, made of money, or something? I gotta save where I can, so I can have way way too much musical gear
No problem. I’m glad to contribute to your repertoire. The enigma wrapped in a riddle layered with cynicism that is blowtorch
Many moons ago (about 30 years worth), I was hired by a now famous guitar player to do a luau theme house party gig.
We all “shirted up” and showed up to do the gig.
When we arrived at the palatial home, we noticed there were no people/cars around.
Now famous leader guy knocked on the door.
We were graciously informed that we were exactly a week early.
At least it wasn’t my fault.
I've got one, buried deep in one of my closets. I got it for a friend's luau-themed bachelor party and haven't worn it since.
I opt for different colored linen. I'm understated/boring like that.
I just realized I lied here. Just a couple months back my instrumental sorta surf band debuted as a featured showcase at a local open mic night. I was badgered into "shirting up" that night, to match up with everyone else in the band.
We played Miserlou. AND we've got a trumpet player
I have a bunch for this time of year. Been wearing them with my cargo shrots and sandals.
It's tee shirt weather.
