I didn't expect this to happen but if there's anyone who needs the "Keith" amp it's me. I present, the Fender Custom '57 Twin RI! (Yes I know Keith plays high power 1959 Twins, but this is as close as I'm ever going to come).

Local sale, great price, and excellent condition. About 10 years old from what I can tell (has the metal "tube cage" but predates the rubber "switch condoms"). Eminence made "Weber designed" alnico speakers.

What can I say? It's got THE tone. Sounds fantastic!

I already have a 5F6-A Bassman and I was worried the Twin would sound too similar to justify buying it. They are not the same. I mean, they're both Tweeds but they each sound like their own thing.

I already removed the tube cage. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Check out some “Low Power” tones on YouTube under 1953 Fender Esquire. It may the purest Fender Tone that I’ve ever heard.
    ENJOY.:D:D

ps: there’s three videos but the first video totally will floor everyone.

The envy. I am so hankering for a mid-sized / big tweed… Any soundclips, especially of the clean sound, welcome. (As if you could crank THAT at home :D)

PS: also intrigued by the brown combo that peeps out of one of your pictures… what is it, and how does it compare?

That would be my 1960 Super. The two are completely different. I mainly got the Super for the harmonic tremolo.

This is great, I've been intrigued by these for some time. I'm currently on a British flavoured amps with my 65 Lil Elvis and Bad Cat Hot Cat 30. I feel like this twin would be less fatiguing and less strident. Please let me know your thoughts on it.

Congrats! I'm happy for you. I got mine used about 10 years ago. It's just a wonderful sounding amp IMO. I gig with mine cranked (usually attenuated) and control distortion with the guitar volume. Congrats again and enjoy Nirvana! :)

Quick update: I borrowed a bias probe from a buddy and checked the power tubes. Turns out I need new power tubes lol. They're HORRIBLY mismatched. One is running around 46ma and the other is at 33. To test whether there was something up with the amp or not I pulled a known set of good tubes out of my other amp and tried them. They were within .8 of each other. I know some minor mismatch is ok but not a 25% difference between the two tubes. And these are the factory supposed "Premium" matched Groove Tubes. (They've both got the same colour match rating on them).
