It appears Dumble amps are starting to be made again.

The story behind all this is pretty wild. There was shady stuff like Fuchs owning the Dumble domain name at one point. There was also a company putting out Dumble guitar pedals complete with identical graphics to what was used on amps.

This is way messier than even the Trainwreck continuation from what I understand. If I find where I read the stories I'll link them.

I’ve heard Dumbles and respect their sound and everyone has their favorites. I have to admit I’m a bit fascinated by their near mythical status and stories of epoxy sealed circuit boards so no one can sees the topology, mysterious builder, etc. Very cloak and dagger aura around thee amps.

At least according to this article it seems the intent isn't to mass market "Dumble" branded amps so much as it was to protect legacy Dumble IP rights.

No idea if any of this is true or not, or how close these individuals really were to Dumble, but it certainly doesn't seem like they are gearing up to sell loads of affordable 'Dumble' amps.

It wouldn't be the first time Fuchs was involved in "shady stuff".

Part of me is excited that I might actually own one sometime, another part is thinking “Is nothing sacred?”.

Dumble amps died with Mr Dumble.
These new guys have just bought the name and no one will have any idea if anything they make sounds like a real Dumble.
There's only 300 in existence sitting in the private collections of people who can afford to pay over $100,000 for a guitar amp ;)

Yes, it seems they will not actually make any amps.
I guess they can't say that out loud/officially, it made for some strange interviews at NAMM.

It's great they are keeping the legacy alive and upholding trademarks IMO.

On the other hand, they are sitting on schematics and famous units etc, what's the use of it if no amps are built and everything remains secret?

Never heard of of Dumble until this year, is the only thing that makes them so expensive is the artist who played them ? On the other hand if a Dumble could make me sound like David Lindley maybe it would be worth it

Alexander Dumble is the reason they cost so much. He wouldn’t build an amp for just anybody, you had to be something special for him to even consider building you an amp. After that, he would spend time with the customer fine-tuning the circuit.

Maybe this will finally put to rest the discussion that tone is in the player not the gear. I never bought a record in the 70s or 80s based on the equipment an artist played. To me it was just the artist and the song. Who am I kidding.......it will always be about the gear.

Perhaps they will monitize the intellectual property by licensing designs? Stay tuned.
