AND, your guitar collection will be the talk of the town, until every last one of them is sold at HUGE prices!I'll have you know I'm a tragically misunderstood artist, well before my time, and I'll be absolutely huge after my passing
I would definitely buy sig models. But not just because I like the players. They often have specs I really like that you can’t get on regular production instruments. Or sometimes anywhere.Yeah, I have no ill will to Joe. He’s made it and he is good at what he does. I would never buy a guitar with his name on it nor anyone’s name. I don’t believe buying an endorsed instrument makes you a better player anyway. Especially me! He certainly keeps guitar in the limelight and that is a good thing. We may be a dying breed.
You don't like Led Zep or the Allman Bros?
That’ll just be the bloat from your corpse being left in the sun.I'll have you know I'm a tragically misunderstood artist, well before my time, and I'll be absolutely huge after my passing

"I Almost Cut My Ear"Please don’t cut off your ear.
yeah. musicians who dont write their own music may as well be trained monkeys. One thing I'd really like to see from Joe is to take the plunge and do completely original tunes. JMHOYMMV
I was a lead guitarist in a coupla bands, back in the day, whose songs were mostly written by the vocalists thereof. Made a coupla records with the buggers too. So was I a monkey to begin with, I was at least THEIR monkey for that time beingdont write their own music may as well be trained monkeys
you were a sideman and that's different. no shame at all in thatI was a lead guitarist in a coupla bands, back in the day, whose songs were mostly written by the vocalists thereof. Now the Silver Sky is a different story, lol! Not a Mayer fan either, but he deserves respect too. Great singer, player,/entertainer. I have the opposite feeling on sig models myself. I just don't see spending the extra money when Im happy with all the guitars I have now or can tweak to my liking.I would definitely buy sig models. But not just because I like the players. They often have specs I really like that you can’t get on regular production instruments. Or sometimes anywhere.
I’m not a Mayer fanboi, but I own a Silver Sky and I am not ashamed. It’s a badass guitar and nothing else is like it.

I’ve been over the differences in my specific SS threads, but mainly it’s in the way it’s been tweaked. The way a typical S/S/S guitar is shaped and contoured, has taught us to think of it as a very refined, sleek, and comfortable shape. If you’d told me before I owned the PRS that it would make a Strat feel bulky and clunky I would not have believed you, but that’s the case. Are you able to describe the exact features that make it so? You gig regularly and over years. You've had dozens to hundreds of guitars plus worked the retail gig.
What are the import features that if other builders could add or change, what would they be?
A long time ago I had a Squier I bought new that I kind of hated, and a little while later I picked up an abused and half destroyed S-type for $15 that must have originally been a big box holiday special. However, the neck was super easy to play, so I dug in. The important difference was the Squire's neck carve cut a lot of wood off the rear shoulders. Width and depth were similar and the same as MIA Strats. So the Fender competitors were making a better copy than Fender had Squier do where it counted.
So I'm super interested in what the SS specifically did to stand out for your playing.

"Guitar Aficionado"? Really?to me he's the perennial coverboy for this kind of thing
