On TDPRI I'm seeing an increase in errors from ad services:

- 404 File Not Found when the ad file is missing or the path is invalid on the ad server side
- Adult product ads that stray beyond family orientation in language used. Seeing a "Rock Hard Bon** At Any Age" ad right now.
- My security software throwing blocking ad services and throwing alerts of invalid security certificates.

Admins, please vet ad services more completely before engaging them. It's tough in the long run, because some ad services like Google don't vet their advertisers as well as they could and garbage ads sneak in.

Main offenders today:

- googlesyndication.com. Serving ads about 'male pills' right now.
- lyconery-readset.com. It's ads are blocked, here: its security certificate is misconfigured or doesn't match its domain.

Probably just yelling at clouds, here.

...and before someone chimes in saying ads are based on personal web browsing history, that simply isn't true. I only browse TDPRI at work, on my work computer, which I have never used to look up anything even remotely related to the ads I see. More work definitely needs to be put in to making sure the ads stay appropriate (or, you know, just get rid of them altogether).

i don't get why anyone would make the choice to see any ads, anywhere online

especially when it's totally free not to see them

I complained about soft core porn in the ads once. It did not end well for me. Some of the ones I see are completely inappropriate and as someone stated earlier, they have nothing to do with browsing history. As I use my work computer a lot.

Well I'm going to chime in here and say that you're both wrong - it DOES track your internet history! If you log into this site from work then it will recognise your user ID and all the behaviours of the site while browsing on the internet. Unless you have an ad blocking device or software in this case if the site has had these kinds of ads before then you are a member and all the internet protocol that this site has used before whether or not you chose it will be added to it and all the users. I too used to get those offensive ads. However that may be I blocked them. I only got them on this site. If the administrators are taking money from these perverts of course you're going to get a cold shoulder from them concerning it. Most people don't understand how computer language works let alone the protocols that are imbedded into the internet and all those who use it. There are safeguards against it but those are very limited to both your computer safety settings and internet browser settings that you choose. Otherwise you are at their mercy whether you realise this or not!
