I love my Tele. I feel on the right day for me it can sound like anything - Depends on my fingers that day.

I would love an Am Strat and a PRS Dragon & Marshall Hi-Watt stack.

Had a sobering realization last night. Have been practicing solo with tele at home regularly for past two or three years getting ready to break it out in country western band I've been playing in for past five years, almost entirely amplified acoustic. Big gig coming up soon, so rehearsal last night covering Nadine by Chuck Berry-- pretty straight ahead song--I realized my chops were nowhere near what the song needed or what I could do on my trusty acoustic. So for now the tele stays at home. When I started playing electric I had NO IDEA how demanding this telecaster would be--nowhere to hide behind those singe coil pups or how important string dynamics would be; also it's hard to play an electric "quietly" in an amplified string band. Doesn't mean I'm giving up, just more woodshedding.

    My Main Thing......

My Telecaster is my main guitar. It is the perfect synergy of man and machine. It compliments my style well, and the versatile tonal pallete allow me to get the music I hear in my head out to the ears of the listener.

As for the dream set up question, I don't dream about guitars. No need. I have a very nice Telecaster. Whatever my mind can dream up musically, my Telecaster helps convert it to reality.

I do have a G&L Legacy, too. Don't play it much.

No.... It is my last.... love it, but I must have a trem. My PRS Custom 24 or my MIA Strat take 1st and 2nd spots. However, the Tele gets played 3 days a week at my guitar shop as I teach lessons.

The parts tele in my Avatar is indeed #1. Over Historic Gibsons, CS Fenders, and my #1 Strat with a Pre CBS 61' neck. I have a case for it but it has not been in it for weeks . I'm almost afraid to take it anywhere because I have a connection with it like no other in over 21 yrs of guitar collecting/trading.

I haven't played enough to select a favorite just yet. I've had the tele the longest and started learning on it but picked up a strat and have been playing on it most of the time although I've been itching to break out the tele again and try some of the new stuff I've learned on it for a few months.

My favorite is always changing. My tele is still my no.1 (because it's the oldest and I have owned it the longest of any instrument) but lately I find myself playing my ES135 more than any other guitar.

It was for several years, but recently I had several months' flirting with the dark side and humbuckers.

But I've just got a P100-loaded Les Paul a couple of days ago and I'm suspecting this might be numero uno now. I'll gig it tomorrow night and see if it's a good there as it seems to be here.

My favorite guitar is my tele. It's the guitar I pick when I play home.
The guitar I use most with my band is my strat. I need that out-of-phase sound for the style of music I play.
My dream setup is my current setup!
Tele + LP goldtop w/P-90's -> KOT clone and Nova System -> tweed Deluxe and a 65 Amps London Pro.
And I am fortunate enough to have other great guitars, amps and pedals for those times when I need different flavours.

Oh yes! I always pick my up my Tele first. It is my dream setup. Tele and a Vox AC 30. I have other stuff but it always comes down to these two.

I used to but I can't stand to look at my tele. It's a partscaster but I noticed the body is out of proportion. Bugs me and I don't have the time to fix it.

So, now I reach for my Epi LP Jr. as my go to.

    My dream rig is:
    - Home brew Tele entirely built by me, including neck and body with hand wound pickups.
    - Various home brew stomp boxes.
    - DIY amp
    - You guessed it, home made cabs. Although I think I'll skip the handwiring of the speakers and just buy them.

I assume you're strictly talking about electric guitars.

If so, then right now my Tele is my favorite guitar. However, I have 4 or 5 fantastic electric guitars that are all quite different from one another and at various times they all are my favorites. My favorite can change on a month-to-month or week-to-week basis. I consider these more or less on equal footing as far as being the favorite:

Fender Custom Shop 54 Tele in Dakota Red (currently my favorite, as I've decided to commit to the whole Tele thing for a little while)

1959 Gibson ES-225 (more often than not, my favorite - has more character, vibe and "mojo" than all of my electrics - sounds and plays great. It will most likely become my favorite again soon)

Gibson Historic 54 Gold top Les Paul (fantastic, awesome, versatile guitar)

Jerry Jones Shorthorn (This is the Jerry Jones version of the famous "Jimmy Page" Danelectro. It was recently my favorite and is especially great when you want to show up with a guitar that not everyone has. At some of the clubs I play everyone uses a Telecaster and quite honestly it gets a little old, even though I love Teles).

So yes, right now my Tele is my favorite but that's definitely subject to change on a whim.

My Gretsch knocked my ol' #1 tele out of the saddle about 4 years ago.
Ol' #1 is seeing a little more action lately.
I took the Hipshot of it and strung her up regular.
Might take her to the gig tonight.
My "dream guitar" sounds like my Gretsch, but plays like my Tele.
Maybe I need to build a hollow/chambered La Cabronita style.

My Crook is my number one, my true love. I also have an american standard strat 09, and four lp's, all 78 and before deluxe models. Im building a cabinet setup, but I run a Nashville 1000 for outside gigs, and a pre cbs fender super reverb with a 15 inch d130 lancing for most gigs, as of now I use a digitech rp-1000 stompbox, and a few other custom made pedals, mostly my big thicket, its a seasick green ibanez with a compressor built in. And I run 3 different wireless units, one for each guitar, I always bring aone lp, strat, and my Crook. Each using different presets on an online graphic eq, a 24 channel. Its a pain to set up and tear down, but I love the results. That's why im building a cabinet setup, faster set up.

My Tele will always be my #1 guitar because.....

I have a pretty large collection (over thirty gig ready guitars of all shapes and brands) but the Tele is the only one that I can take to a gig with just my old '79 MusicMan HD-212 and one cord and just plug straight into the amp and get a tone I like. I've always thought that if you couldn't get a usable tone out of a Telecaster out of any amp, it just wasn't possible to get it.........JH in Va.
