Prior to [unmentionable] I inquired and was told they were expecting some updated colors on these models. I followed up a few weeks ago and was told that might get pushed back to next year. Seems reasonable to conclude that, at least as of a few weeks ago they were behind schedule but still expecting additional models.

    I didn't know that the...um...Thing couldn't be spoken of

Than I'm thinking..."wait, which thing...you know, the regular thing, or the other thing"

Than I'm thinking if the regular thing can't be spoken about, than the other thing REALLY can't be spoken about

Was just going to post that Fender is a few months behind schedule due to global events; @logans_tele got the word straight from Wildwood.

This is likely the same reason that American Professionals are even more scarce now than you would expect - even though American Professionals are due for replacement in October there may well have been one final run of them made before Fender changed over to the upcoming American Professional V2 models had the shutdown not occurred.

I had a conversation with a guitar store owner last week and he indicated that he talked to his Fender rep and there was a pause in guitar production at Fender and elsewhere which is slowly resuming. So low inventory for a while.

Looks like at least a dozen new thin skins appeared on the Wildwood site today. Looks like more of the same colors they've had in recent months.

Isn't the answer as simple as Fender's discontinuing using ash for their bodies (because of the shortage/beetles etc), and Thin Skins are all ash?

They order 50 of each type when they order them, but they trickle in over a period of time. They get the lionshare up front, and then the rest over like half a year (from what I've been told).

This is the first I've heard of the re-vamp of the Am Pro series. Do you have any more info about that?

No, not at all. The AV base model determines the wood selection, so most solid color 60s models, like the Jazzmaster, could be alder.

    Hmm.

So, you think that FMIC will fill as many Thin Skin orders as they can, helter skelter, and push off until tomorrow what to do if no suitable ash wood supplies can be found?

You could be right. Or Andoris could be right that FMIC won't make a stab at further completion of this order, at all, until all the ducks are lined up.

I may be in the minority here, but I don't see these Premium dealers like Wildwood getting preference over other dealers. I think as things just slow down or go on hiatus, that Wildwood will have to wait in the queue just like everyone else. Maybe FMIC should give priority to dealers who pay cash in advance, but there's a possibility that could cause trouble - in complex ways we can't see from the outside.

    Why would you ask?
At times their Thin Skin inventory gets depleted while they wait for a new generation.
Fender and others are behind in their delivery of their guitars. Dealer inventories are depleted. California has been hit very hard by the pandemic.
I remember one period where the stock of Wildwood 10s was relatively low. One of their salesmen told me they were waiting on Fender to deliver a huge run.
Overall, I’m kind of tired of going online to look for something to see it’s back ordered.

I'm not sure what you mean boris, I'm just responding to the comment that all TS guitar bodies are made of ash. Certainly the ash tree obliteration makes a difference but I checked and there are no TS '65 Jazzmasters (alder) in stock. Those JMs are pretty popular and for good reason. Seems strange to hold up production to wait for more ash when they could be selling alder bodied TS'. Dunno though, production/sales is not my thing :)
