Hey I came across a supposedly American Telecaster for a price too good to be true but from the looks of it to me at least its not legitimate. Just was looking for a second pair of eyes to confirm that it is in fact fake (or to hopefully show me why I'm wrong).

I looked mostly at the head stock and Googled for a Telecaster with a similar decal. But none of them had a font similar to that with quotes around it.

The color looks off to me, the neck plate is blank. I think fender neck plates say fender. The headstock looks completely wrong in shape. The color of the back of the neck looks orange but that be some photo trickery. The font on the headstock looks suspect too, but again it could be just a blurry photo.

Yeah I noticed the neck plate too. Thanks for confirming.

No walnut plug around truss rod, spacing at 12th fret is off.

The font (or typeface) reading "TELECASTER" looks like a copy decal I've seen for sale on the 'net,
so I suspect it might not be genuine. That's all I noticed, right offhand.

Just by the headstock, wonky string trees, not walnut plug and dodgy decal (misplaced and incorrect font/blurred). Fake, thread closed! :D

I got nothing to add, but I'll gladly second what everyone else has noticed. Fake.

Just wondering if this is a guitar you can touch or only through online?
Used guitars now require the skills of Sherlock Holmes to evaluate.

Is the spacing on the switch plate odd or is it just the angle?
    The knobs look bunched together.

Even so that headstock is one for the books imo

Agree, without going past the first picture the colour jumped out as wrong (by no means am I an authority on this)

Its got a two piece neck ie separate fingerboard which makes the headstock deeper set than a real Fender .its a Chinese knock off and worth just about SX money maybe less.
