83db more than...?

An approximate AC voltage reading of the guitar's output would be a good thing to measure.

Sounds like fun though!

For reference....
The GFS Mid Boost F04 is advertised as the Clapton Woman Tone, 9dB boost at 1KHz. There is 16dB of gain total, but only 9dB of boost. Plenty.

Appreciate that, but I was just trying to gently encourage him to measure it another way for his own understanding. I'm sure it does a good job of boosting the signal to a couple volts and it's fun that he's enjoying it so much. The fact that his amp wasn't destroyed (and fender hasn't been bankrupted by a flood of wrongful death suits) does let us know they're not making strats that put out 2000Vac.
