Installed gen 4 noiseless now. Now thinking of 4 way switch. And what is brand I should buy. Got a guy that will do the installation for free. Also is new plate required and what is the best brand, Do not want push/pull. Should I should get obsidian kit.

4 way switch is a great add-on. Not sure of a brand - others here will know.

I installed one on a ‘52 Reissue. The switch worked fine in the control plate with no modification. I can’t remember which manufacturer built the switch though.

I have 4 ways in both of my teles. I used Oak Grigsby because I'd heard their name a lot. On the first one with a metal control plate I had to file a notch in the blade where it hit the plate on position 4 to get the switch to full seat in that position. On the one in the pictured in my avatar, I just angled the slot in the wood. How are you liking the Gen 4 noiseless?

I seem to recall a few threads of members not having luck with noiseless pickups & a 4 way switch.

Do it. It’s the single best mod for a Tele, IMHO. Oak Grigsby as others have mentioned. Works with standard control plate.

Oak Grigsby. Pretty sure you can get a pre-wired kit from Mojotone or RS if you don’t like to solder. I’m not sure the brand matters as long as it’s silent and fits. Some cheap switches don’t make the full turn in the slot on the control plate.

Yep, 4-way is highly recommended for normal pickups. Cant speak to noiseless. I haven't had to modify a plate yet, but if you need to it should be easy. Just keep the metal shavings away from your pickups!

I found the combination very squawky regardless of pup height. But I blamed the pups and switched to the traditional noisy pups and the tone was perfect. I did not try a 3-way switch first. Don't see how that would matter much except one less squawky position.

I briefly did a search and, as I tend to do, found something less important to do.

I recall it being more of an issue with the build makeup of a noiseless combined with the 4 way. In my search the info I perused had people installing a 4 way w noiseless with some success, so, there goes that.

I used an aftermarket switch plate from Allparts.
