Time does, indeed, fly by! I keep saying to my (current) wife, 33rd anniversary today, that someday we should load the car and head to Scotland for a week or two. Been there with her a few times but mostly when I’d gone on business and she’d tagged along. Oh, and a day each in Edinburgh and Glasgow on a cruise. Business was mainly Aberdeen, Dyce. One day it’ll happen, really getting a bit fed up with the hassle of flying on holiday!

no , I sold that ......but i do have a pickup truck ( more practicle where i live )LOL
I dont smoke and very seldom drink , My two addictions are my studio, building/ repairing/ recycling gear & coffee.
Durn, I wuz holding on to the delusion that you rode a chicken everywhere.
Algie is good for short runs like to the grocery store uptown, but for long hauls the the dump a truck is the right tool for the job , very intuative of you.

We were in Scotland a couple years ago tracing my wife's ancestral haunts. That's where I encountered the "Scottish breakfast." Yikes! It's a wonder everybody in the country isn't morbidly obese with colon cancer. And fish & chips can be a greasy mess of fried carbs as well. But later I noticed most of the natives preferred "porridge" (i.e., oatmeal) to start their day, and there's nothing wrong with that. We kinda have the same thing here - you can get chicken fried steak and hash browns swimming in white gravy with a couple of runny eggs ... or oatmeal.
The phone addiction thing has been cussed and discussed to death. However, what breaks my heart is when I see kids riding in the backseat of their parents' car going through breathtaking scenery and they would rather play candy snooch or whatever. When my boys were in Scouts, they had a no-electronics rule on campouts. Phones and other gaming devices were collected by the leaders at the start of the trip and returned when we got back. The other danger of course with kids having phones is that they take pictures in the bathrooms and showers ... talk about kiddie porn.

Amen Brother! One thing that getting old and slow and suffering a triple bypass has taught me is that it never pays to be in a hurry. I was talking to a friend I hadn't seen in 2 years in the produce section yesterday, and Karen came up behind us. She did everything but run us over with her cart, making irritated facial expressions, etc. I asked her if she was in a hurry and suggested she move back to California. We moved on, she got her kale, and the world continued to spin.
I’ve been on a no social media rule for the last few days. Just a little TDPRI last night and today.
It’s so easy to get sucked into reading peoples’ (mostly dumb) opinions. For hours. And getting those little dopamine rushes when someone likes or responds to your comments. It’s a vicious feedback loop.
With Apple Music and Kindle I have access to almost every recording ever made and any book I want to purchase. I can even have the books read to me with my Audible subscription. HBO Max has hundreds of classic movies.
Yet I keep getting drawn back to this social media crap and ignoring the great stuff I could be consuming. Even worse, not spending time with my family or practicing guitar or doing home improvement projects.
So, I’m just stopping in again temporarily. I’ll be fading out more and more until hopefully you never hear from me again.

Yesterday morning my wife's 85-year-old sister, her son, and her niece from her late husband's side of the family were at our house visiting. The 5 of us were all having a nice, lively conversation when the niece decided to google something. I needed to get her on our wi-fi, which I did.
We joked about how we would all soon be on our phones instead of having the lively face-to-face conversation we had been having.

See, I would have left out the complete dick comment about moving back to California, instead, I probably would have moved out of her way, since she knew what she wanted and I was just shuffling along. Then, after she got in and got out, I would have continued maybe even with a smile for her.
I appreciate that you agreed with me, but your actions are the OPPOSITE of what I do in that situation. Situational awareness and providing ingress and egress without me being the problem is important to me. In this case, your needs trumped all others, not cool in my book.
Confession: if someone is blocking a grocery aisle, I give their cart a modest passive-aggressive ramming then pretend I didn't see it coming. Seniors and parents with young kids get a pass.
