What do you think?

I'm considering buying a Tele, but I just can't pick a color.
As I'm a poor student I'm buying a Squier, and I thought "Well you can't screw up a black paint on a guitar".

This is the type of tele I'm going for, except for a maple neck.

But is it one of the most boring colors that's ever been on a tele?
And would you get a punch in the face if you came to a band practice with a black tele? :(

No, and why would you???

I love my black Telecaster. Black is classic.

A Black Tele is like a Black Suit. You can do anything with it. I like Black on Black, White on Black, Tortoise on Black, Pearl on Black, Black Pearloid on Black, Mint on Black... you get the picture.

I just bought a blonde Baja, which is absolutely classic and one of my fav colors, but it isn't as versatile as far as matching guards up.

Someday I probably will have either a black tele, or a black strat.

Go for it...

Oh, never thought there would be so much black tele love here.

I blame those starter kits. :)

How is the paint on the affinity series, the black ain't metallic is it?

I dig mine! Black is great if only because you don't actually see many of them. Blondes and BSB rule the school but black is the indie kid that only the coolest kids like.

I completely HATE black guitars; I do think it's the single most boring color ever put on a guitar. I have walked away from some very nice black guitars, just because they were black.

But for some reason -- the Tele is the only guitar I've ever seen that can actually look GOOD in black.

Only thing wrong with black is that it fingerprints too easily. Good thing flat black is even cooler...

And BTW, I don't think any of the Squier black teles are metallic. Thankfully.

Black is very cool when the player is cool, so don't sweat it. If you aren't cool, the tele won't help, any color. But if you get punched in the face, put a charge upside his head with the big end of that black tele. Won't happen twice.

That's a belt buckle, isn't it?

Ha, that made me laugh out loud, although I have seen buckles nearly that big.
Actually it was Tele-take on the Ron Wood Zemaitis. (and a charity guitar to boot so I was willing to experiment)

Only noobs sweat the colour.

Look for any guitar that excites you and don't bother with the colour or the name on the headstock. Just find a good-playing, good-sounding instrument. If it happens to be a black Tele, then rock the **** out of it.

Well, that's some classy metal work. And the knob/switch arrangement looks very sharp. J-bass knobs?

Nice experiment.
