I love the small/handy/beautiful shape of a Les Paul, but I'm a Tele guy....so I think about buying one and modding it...(not a Gibson of course)

    what do you think/experiences?

    It’s not a crime, it’s a Lestercaster.

They are somewhat similar shape. But I wouldn't go Mahoghany if you like the Tele sound...

A Junior/Special style with a flat top would work, not sure about a carved top.

What mods are you thinking? ..... I'd build a tele with a LP special outline, without hesitation, but modding a LP into anything like a telecaster seems problematic and a lot of work.

A Mahogany bodied Telecaster is no revolutionary change from an alder, basswood or ash one.

So long as the neck is not Mahogany and the 25.5 scale is kept, I think you'll be on familiar ground.

I saved a picture of this guitar from another thread here because i thought it looked great. You may have been envisioning a carved top, but this should at least get you in the ballpark if you’re wondering how it would look.

That's cool, I'd want a Fender style neck as well though, so it doesn't just look like a tele bridge on a LP.

Do you mean a crime against humanity, or an actual crime?

St. Blues, a.k.a. Strings & Things has had a sort-of LP shaped guitar with Tele pickups since the 1980's...

Agreed! I am not much of a P90 guy - a Strat neck pickup, or brighter sounding tele neck or low output HB pickup.

But I really like the look of this pic overall.
