My Fender American Design Strat HSS. I like the humbucker option and it is a joy to play.

What would your Fender custom shop idea produce?

Blocked for sure. Don't like Whammey's myself.

In the case of high-end acoustics I think it is a better option than "big name" custom shop or a single luthier. It seems to me to be the best way of assuring performance - I have a very good Bourgeois. In an electric I'm not sure what you would be getting except more bling, fancy timber etc so I don't find the idea attractive.

    What is your staple carbohydrate?

Pepperidge Farm German Dark Wheat bread. It doesn't seem to have as much sugar as a lot of US breads.

I also eat pumpkin flax granola and yogurt that I make from raw jersey milk. I'm able to be plump on this diet.

Did you enjoy playing in a marching band?

I did. It gave me a great sense of rhythm. Alas hopeless at trumpet.

Is there an instrument you tried you just couldn't get?

Extended range guitars, seven strings, eight strings. I can't pull anything sensible from them.

    Ever tried playing fretless bass?

Yes: it's great fun once you get used to it. Frets, however, take much less getting used to. Fretless guitars are fun as well.

    MXR or EHX pedals? Why?

EHX just because they're more fun. I've got a racist sitar, RTG, bad stone, satisfaction fuzz, and more from them. MXR is great but, I don't see any melotron simulators from them!

Would/did you ever buy a fretless GUITAR?

EDIT: RAVISH! RAVISH sitar! Not racist! Stupid autocorrect!

Follow up question: Racist sitar? Um... please explain? (Australians will get that)

Perhaps. It would probably end up with a lap steel conversion nut!

    Check your typo... Hahaha.

Thermometer case, rectangular case, or gig bag? Molded case or wood and vinyl/tweed?

I liked the molded case, but there's something about a tweed case that's nice. Gig bags are best for walking around.

Do you use a compressor? If so which one, and is it always on?

Camel. Ughh. Dry, leathery and with a very odd aftertaste.

What album released so far in 2016 would you recommend to everyone else on TDPRI? Sell it to us in a sentence.

Jeff beck: loudhailer. A man of 72 has no right to be so cutting edge and rocking.

What album would you not recommend from an otherwise loves artist?

Two Against Nature - Steely Dan.

I LOVE that band but could not connect with that particular album, despite all its awards. 'Everything Must Go' that followed was better.

One guitar you'd like to own but probably won't? For me, Jazzmaster or a p90 SG

Anything vintage. I'd feel guilty if I damaged it. I'm not particularly rough with my guitars but I have them to play.

What is the one effect pedal that is essential to nail "your sound"?

Qtron or boss aw3. The quack of an envelope filter.

What pedal will you never use?

Can't really think of any… I'm very adventurous with sounds, so I'd love to have any pedal and would use it if given the opportunity.

Do you live in the same state that you grew up in?
