I got some really great stuff, but the coolest thing is probably a watercolor and some prints by my all time favorite visual artist— Cal Schenkel (Best known for doing a lot of Zappa’s artwork)

We went pretty light on gifts this year, partly because of the costs involved in the big move we made from Colorado to North Carolina over the summer, partly just because.

My wife gave me Nick Offerman's new book, so I am looking forward to reading that, along with a novel by one of my favorite authors, Graham Greene.

Do you make New Year's resolutions?

I have, and I do.
I have made a couple fresh ones just today.
I wonder how I’ll do keeping them.
There’s only two.
Shouldn’t be too hard.
Same great question please.

Nope. It always feels crappy when you realize you’ve broken them. I prefer to just set reasonable goals throughout the year.

What was your first gear/music purchase of 2022?

An MIJ Tele Thinline, which is on the way. Natural finish, two humbucker version. I will post pics when it arrives!

Would you rather deal with heat or cold, when it comes to weather?

Lead. I have multiple albums worth of material, but I have a hard time asserting myself— if I was just a member of my dream band, I can be sure none of my own music would ever be recorded or performed.

What earworm is stuck in your head right now?

The earworm stuck in my head right now is Bullet With Butterfly Wings. I always liked the guitar playing of Bllly Corgan and bassist D'Arcy Wretzky. Shame her drugs got her kicked out of the band before they got even more popular.

“Handle With Care” by the Traveling Wilburys…There’s a 12-string rhythm line layered in there, and I love it.

Water Song by Hit Tuna.
It’s a Jorma Kaukonen tour de force.
I don’t know what the tuning is.
Double drop D is as adventurous as this ol’ boy gets.
I taught myself a version of Water Song when I was a pup.
I didn’t know it was in an open tuning.
Doh!
What’s your favorite Irish band?
