Has anyone here had experience with these new Inspired by Gibson Epiphone guitars? I've always wanted a Dove but the $5000 price tag scares the hell out of me. These new Epi Doves look real good in the pics but no where close to me has one in stock to try out. Would love some input before I decide to order one. Many thanks.

No, because I've been checking out the same line of Dove, J45 and Hummingbirds.
those are not the more expensive 'Inspired' line, those are just the regular Epiphone budget line.
I'm actually interested in the Hummingbird of the budget line because that's what I can afford.

I wanted the Epi J45 budget one, but unfortunately it has a long scale only, and I want to check out these short scale 'Gibson' Epiphones...

I think the cheap line that I'm looking at has solid tops and the Inspired line has all solid Woods
This is the one I am thinking about getting

I have one of the new Inspired by Gibson Custom double cut Les Paul's ($999). It's every bit as nice as any Gibson Les Paul Special I've ever owned or played at half the cost. It also includes a sweet case.

Good luck and let us know what you decide upon.

Music Villa did a great demonstration of that guitar on their "Acoustic Letter" show. You should check it out.

@43mmNut

Which one? I plan on getting the 1957 Gold Top in the next month or two. This new line reminds me of the high quality Epiphone Elite/Elitist line.

A couple of years ago I played an Epi IBG Hummingbird which I thought was a really nice instrument. At the time, the price was ~$800 and I thought the guitar was a bargain at that price. I've also heard good things about the IBG J-45 although I've never played one. Seems like Epi's IBG line gets a lot of favorable reviews so I'd imagine the IBG Dove would probably be no exception.

I recently sold my IBG Hummingbird. I found it to be a really good guitar, just not a great one. The newest versions have some improvements but the prices did go up.

Im fickle here,

I really want one of the Epiphone J45's.

As money is always tight I was going to get the cheapest one-

but the long-scale of this model bugs me, as i already own long-scale Martins, have played a real 1950 Gibson J45, with the short scale, and it was just an amazing sounding and playing guitar!

-as the housewife in Napoleon Dynamite, looking at the ship inside the glass bottle that Uncle Rico (Tupperware salesman) had as a premium, said:
" I WANT THAT!"

So I think I will get the money together, for an all-solid 'Inspired' j45, with the short scale.
I think I would be happy, rather than regret buying the wrong j45

I know this will not be the same thing as a real 1950 Gibson but maybe in that direction over time

* I just started getting Social Security and I think it's time!

Edit: photo of lastest guitar lust
