The relicing is tasteful on the body, but the “burn” around the frets is so odd. It looks exactly like if someone burned the board using a soldering iron on glued in frets during a refret (ask me how I know). It’s just an odd look and something you don’t actually see on old tele’s so why add it?
Otherwise, beautiful guitar and I hope you get many years of joy out of it!

Someone on here wiped his off, so it's some kinda grease sitting on top of the finish. What I haven't seen is one of these that has had the crap played out of it. My theory is that CS relics are a starting-off point and they probably do look a lot like 50-year-old guitars after a mere 10-25 years. Maybe most of the schmeer is lost in the process.

the look of the dark stuff around the frets is typical FCS. I wouldn't try to get rid of it.
Is the story that Syd left his esquire (the one with the mirrors on it) out in the rain or something and ruined it and then got that guitar?
I've always thought that the painted floor in that picture was cool.

Arrived, only had fifteen minutes of play time.
I’ve never played a FCS and only played a few vintage guitars back when they just used guitars.
This is a special experience, I’m thrilled initially and look to spend a lot of time with it.
