My wife is done working early, so I got to play it a bit. This is a cool amp. Pristine sparkly cleans. The EQ controls have a very usable and pretty large sweep.

The reverb is digital, but sounds great. Very spring-like. Turned up really high it’s kinda overbearing and washes things out, but a lot of very popular fender tube amps do that, too. It’s miles better than the reverb in the Crush RT amps.

Trem is very good. Quite usable. I wish it went slower, but it’s not the end of the world. It sounds perfectly fine.

Like the 35RT, this thing is capable of insane volume considering its size and wattage. It is a clean machine. With my boxer Tele, which is loaded with low-medium output humbuckers, it doesn’t start to break up until 1-2 o’clock on the volume. Even then it’s very light breakup, and you have to dig in to get it. At that point the amp is far too loud for the majority of my gigs. It’s a great breakup, though. Quite musical.

The sound is more on the American side than the other orange amps I’ve owned. Clearer, more sparkly, less mid-forward. It still doesn’t sound like an American amp. It’s still got a decidedly Brit flavor, but it’s not all the way there, either. It’s a really good combination of the two.

I found a couple reviews online that compared it to a Princeton. I can see some similarities. It’s a compact, single speaker, single channel combo with reverb and trem. But it’s got a ton more clean headroom on tap, and definitely more sheer volume available. Physically I see the comparison. Sonically I don’t. The sealed back cab and 12” speaker give it a ton more punch and loads of big but tight bass.

I wanted a compact and lightweight rig that would do big, deep, clear, clean tones at gig volumes with a nice reverb. This definitely will do that. I’ll post again after I try it with the pedal board. I’m digging it. I’m off tonight but I’ll gig it tomorrow night.

I was online looking at the CR60C again, telling myself I really didn’t need it, when I stumbled across the O Tone. Orange is really leading the pack with analog SS amps, IMO. They’re just really good.
Yeah…I’m trying to not get too excited about the new Dual Baby. :p

Am I reading the specs correctly on that amp? Is it really only 1 lb. heavier than the 35RT??? And the dimensions are pretty much the same??

That sounds great! Just the right size clean tone, and features I love (Reverb and Tremolo) in a small light amp. Affordable too!

I'd have a hard time choosing between orange and black!

Just my own perspective,
This ( operationally, for me) seems like a perfect 'big brother' to my Vox Pathfinder 15R ( an amp I love and gig with)
It is SS and light, 26 lbs., great clean tone, with Tremolo and Reverb.
I use OD pedals so this would be a good ' big amp' with 40 watts and a 12"

Man, I had not heard about this—this looks like an amp I could relate to. I have to try one of these. I’ve definitely developed an appreciation for an amp that stays pretty clean all the way up, and I do like tremolo.

To answer @Chiogtr4x ’s question, while I generally like orange Oranges, I think the black tolex/wheat grille cloth/orange control panel looks pretty great.

Just me, my Fender Frontman 25R amps ( I have 2) are my big amps now over the Pathfinder ( for gigs) and I love them!
But the additional of Tremolo on the Orange, and larger ( light size) makes it very attractive for Mr, plus eliminate a Tremolo pedal!
( I go for really minmal)

- I could sell one Frontman 25R and 'get Orange!' - Excited!
* do like the black!

I'm in the middle of going back and forth between getting a new tube amp, or maybe another solid state. Truth is, I don't need either one. I'm not really very discriminating regarding "tone" - I can feel fine with almost whatever I'm using.

On the other hand - reading the OP makes me want that amp - a common problem for me. I have always pretty much ignored Orange amps, entirely because they were orange. I have heard many, and all of them sound very good, I just can't deal with that color. I'm the same way about red.

So, anyway, I'd get the black one.

This thread has wrecked me, today!
I want this amp!

I like the fact that it only has a Volume knob ( no Gain) just keep it simple- run it loud and clean ( a sound I use) and add an OD pedal. Fine!

Guitar > OD> Delay ( slapback) > Orange Amp. DONE!

* the black looks sweet!

Yep, the black tolex/wheat grill cloth on Orange cabs look WAY better IMHO. I had an Orange 412 cab same style.

Betcha this amp rips! Huge SS fan myself and I'd probably be looking at them if it had more clean headroom all the way up.

Have fun with that amp! Give us some riffs! lol

What are folks color preferences?
Black or orange?

They both look good- something tells me, if you get an Orange, it's gotta be orange! Ha!
Personally I think the actual orange Orange amps are beyond ugly. Yet the black ones are gorgeous to me. I know orange is obviously the “classic” look though. But I just don’t really like loud colors on amps. To me an amp should be black, grey, brown… something more muted. But that’s just me. 🤷‍♂️

Orange doesn’t screw around. They really seem to know what they’re doing. The amps do have different sounds but they’re all good and they all seem built tough.

I have had a Rocker 15 since 2017. Dead reliable and I’ve played the daylights out of it. The whole “natural channel” thing doesn’t always get along with all guitars in all settings but it does really love Fender guitars in just about any setting.

I am jealous of these ones that have reverb & tremolo. If the Rocker had that I’d probably have not bought my Princeton.

I'm with you, but with one exception-
my 'wonder baby' Micro Cube!

I love the heck out of this amp ( my apartment amp) and I did pick the red.

Yeah I say all that but the AC15 in my avatar is blue lol. I never would’ve picked it over the classic black though. I only ended up with it because Sweetwater was blowing them out at a great price a couple years back. I do look at it sometimes and wish it were black. But it is at least more of a dull blue. So I can live with it.

Like everything, it’s all subjective anyway.

The clean headroom is why I bought it. It’s got more than enough. It does not start to break up with my humbucker guitar until it hits about 1-2 o’clock on the volume knob. That’s loud as hell. Like, “you’re fired” volume. It does break up very high on the dial, but I can’t imagine running that high at a bar gig. This thing is STUPID loud for its size and power. And super clean.
