I'm down to two amps, 64 Custom PRRI and 57 Custom Tweed Deluxe. The PRRI is the perfect at home/small gig amp. Deluxe if I want a little more dirt/grind. Got all the bases covered with these two.

    I think you're gonna love it.....:D

Yeah, my 2019 Fender ‘57 Custom Deluxe is the best amp I’ve ever owned.

While I fully admit to being an unrepentant tube amp addict I’ve managed to resist getting a new amp since acquiring the Deluxe. That said, I’ve looked into the ‘64 Custom Princeton Reverb and am definitely salivating!

Unfortunately since it basically has the same wattage as my Deluxe I’m not sure how practical it would be to get something with a similar output, that’s why I’m also looking into getting a Fender ‘68 Custom Pro Reverb, which is 40 watts.

    Anyway, congrats to the OP!

IMHO, the two amps sound nothing alike; in fact, other than the wattage and the tube complement, the only thing that's the same is the name "Fender" on each amp. You really should give the 64 PRRI a try, way, way different than the 57.

Nice. I’m pretty sure that’s the amp I should have, but on my budget, I’ll have to stick with the amp I already have.

I just meant that, since I already love my ‘57 Custom Deluxe, if I were to buy another amp I would get one with similar features as the Princeton (reverb and tremolo) except with more power.

The ‘68 Fender Custom Pro Reverb also has a Middle control and 12” speaker, so there’s that.

Anyway, if I didn’t already have the Custom Deluxe I’d definitely be thinking more about getting the ‘64 Custom Princeton Reverb.

So many options, so little time...

Congrats! Did it arrive yet? I signed up just to comment as I'm keen for your review. This amp is definitely on my radar.

Due in today. It's going head to head with my own version.

That’s too bad, but luckily looks like you have a fairly handy reserve to keep you occupied until then. I’m sure you’ve seen the below clip but if not this is the one that got me most interested in the 64.

And head to head they went, and there's no clear winner. In fact with eyes closed, you couldn't really tell them apart. Any difference is probably down to speaker type. Two very fine amps, one brown, one black.

Good to know. Will you be keeping both given the result?
