Congrats on the new amp. Looks beautiful!
absolutely stunning. Give us a full review when you bring 'er home.
Yep, love to have one of these...
Can’t wait! They open at 10, I may be there before the doors are unlocked, lol. It’s a bit over an hour one way for me.
Nice score! One thing you may want to consider: replacing the speaker jack and wire.
Already have a spare on hand! The original looks toasty.
And it’s mine! On the way to work now. Bit of torture for the drive lol.
Such a cool little amp. I’m really enjoying it so far. I’ll do a recording with it once I have some spare time.
Very quick and dirty recording tonight. Still building my kitchen so don’t mind the background, lol
Man, I probably shouldn't have listened to the sample, such awesome tone from that!
I've heard that you have to push them a whole lot harder than a 5e3 to get to break up. Where did you have your volume set for the clip? You've got me jonesing now
With a les paul? That’s around 5.5. Basically noon. Input 2. With my strat, I’d need it in input one and around 10. Haven’t tried it with the tele yet. It needs a good boost with the strat to get where I want it. The LP kicks it just fine. I found similar with my 5e3 though.
That’s a screenshot of the settings.
Thanks! I've never played a 6g2, but have heard a lot of them lately and have loved them. Reading that they break up a lot later than the 5e3 was the only thing making me second guess. Looks like I know the next amp I will be on the lookout for though!
It’s pretty much a tweed vibrolux with two inputs instead of 3.
I'm assuming it's still got the gold in it? Or did you swap to the jensen? Is it a 12" or original 10"?
Also a lot of people have said the Stapleton Ri nails the tone of the original. I’m not so sure, but I haven’t had them in the same room. I found the RI to be darker, to the point of muddy. The original, or this one at the very least, is bright but full.
This is with a 10” gold and a slew of sovtek tubes that look like 90’s era. Will be dropping some rca’s in it and tung sol 6v6’s soon.
That is beautiful, my favorite colors ! Congrats !
Ridiculously great tone! Reverb? This amp needs none... One heck of a great amp the little 6G2.
On closer inspection, original speaker jack and wire are in good shape. Just their color (I’ve never seen these cloth covered before, always plastic) makes it look worn. Checking the wiring and the jack, all looks good. I do think I’ll hunt down a reissue plastic F for the jack though.
They didn’t come with the f cap , put a less Efficient speaker and it’ll start to break up at three on the dial with single coils
