... tonight’s thread is about incense only ... we’ll get to peppermints later ...

How many of you still burn it?

Used to back in the day ... got some great shizz from my BIL when he lived in India and Indonesia ... not so “head-shop” cloying ...

Now, it’s mostly tasty candles ... and curry ...

    You?

I like the patchouli. And don't buy the stuff at retail stores, you need to buy the good stuff at a smoke shop or crafts fair.

Why would I want to stink up my house?

    Nag Champa

When we first moved into our current house 20.5 yrs ago I started hanging out at the local record store. I also started my third big record collection.

The store closed about 4 yrs ago but the owner remains a friend .

They had a nagging sewer gas issue so they burned a ton of Nag Champa . All the records smelled like the incense.

Even though it was only 15-17 yrs ago , the incense takes me back to buying a load of records and playing them every night, my son being young, the community connection that was that record shop.

I was at a huge flea market maybe 20 years ago. A guy was selling all kinds of incense. I bought a few different kinds. One was marijuana. I figured no way did it really smell like that. I was right. It had a horrendous odor. I still have some of that around here somewhere. I'm not sure why I kept it. It's really bad. But I do burn other incense occasionally.

    I used to.
    It’s been awhile.
Guess I’ll buy some soon and light it up.
I always enjoyed sandalwood cone incense.
    Y’all can keep the peppermints.

Nope, not since the early 70s. My wife is very sensitive to anything scented, so no chance whatsoever these days.

However, it might help those that don't wash their feet. Just an idea.

I have terminal lung disease so I can't handle smoke of any kind anymore. Still keep two sticks of myrrh incense in each of my guitar cases though, a habit leftover from the 80s when I was gigging six nights a week. I sweat onstage, and leather straps get funky when you put 'em away wet.

Found a room-and-linen spray called Gentleman's Cavern from an all-natural cleaning products company named Tidy Thyme. It smells like patchouli & rosewood and satisfies my nostalgic aroma cravings.

I tried the stuff at the smoke shop and thought it was terrible (artificial and chemical smelling to me) ... then I discovered Morning Star. Great stuff! 171-2.jpg

I burn 2-3 sticks everyday. I like Sandalwood & Amber the best.

Exactly. I like the smell of patchouli. I buy patchouli soap from a lady that makes the bars herself, and the one I like most has strawberry seeds in it. It smells great and I feel super clean after using it. I don't even like regular soap anymore.

I don't really like much incense, most of it turns me off. Even the ones I do like, I don't like burning it in the house, it's just too strong for me. They're fine outside, but not indoors.

My ex used to make her own potpourri mix with all kinds of stuff in it, and that was real nice indoors. She'd put a candle under it to heat it up and the house smelled great. She had several different blends, and I liked them all.

Do those who follow the simple courtesy of burning a match. If people don't start taking care of their emissions the government will need to impose a methane tax.

Nag Champa here. Not adverse to giving the house a good smudge with white sage from time to time too! :)

Those are for commie pansies. I only smell like cigars, scotch, human musk and 70's machismo.

We occasionally light a couple sticks, light a few candles, and sit and listen to music, nice.

Amazon has a fairly diverse selection of the stuff.

As a child of the 60’s, I can say that I have burned incense on more than one occasion. :)
