    I should get my DM-2w in next week. Could you give me some suggested settings to start playing with it? I'm mostly interested in a rockabilly slap back echo and that faux reverb sound I've heard others get. I'd also like a nice setting that will go with an overdriven sound. Thanks!

    Hmmm. Slapback isn't that hard to nail. It's real easy to listen to a recording of the kind you want, then keep twiddling the knobs on your pedal to match it. Getting the right repeat effect isn't hard. The trick is the tone. What guitar used, what amp used, technique all are the key to that sound.

    There actually was a page on the net that offered settings for the BOSS pedal you have. Give this a try:

    I don't have that pedal, but those settings do look a bit off. INTENSITY set at zero? ECHO at 3 o'clock? That would be too many echoes. Even the REPEAT RATE looks off. Slap back is one really quick repeat just a shade less intense than the initial note.

    I can set it really well on my BOSS DD-2 and my Crate acoustic amp has a perfect slapback setting built in. And then I have this beauty below. Probably the greatest pedal for '50s sounding guitar. The Danelectro Reel Tape Echo:

    If you are interested, this is Scotty Moore's actual DD-3 with his slapback settings:

    If you're using it with reverb, dial the repete rate over to about 1:00.

    I have a couple of original DM2s , and DM3s as well
    I use them on a very short setting to fatten up the sound of bridge pu's
    I use digital delay for everything else

    I usually set it to standard and have a short slap back. Remember the knobs are backwards. As in the position you think it’s at maximum is minimum etc.

    I'm using pretty much the same settings as Gatordad with my non-reverb tweed amp. For some songs, I prefer it over my 'verb pedal but they also combine nice.

    Is anyone here using the custom mode? I'd be interested in seeing those settings if so. I've messed with it but shorter delay times seem more in line with what I'm going for.

    Got mine in last night. So far just got to mess with it at the house. It sounds great on the standard mode with all the knobs pointing toward the LED. Slapback city!

    I use my Belle Epoch for slapback and use the DM-2W for some spacey repeats or ambience on leads. Repeat rate pretty low, echo middle-ish, intensity middle-ish, sometimes higher.

    F3DE4F76-3CB8-4660-922A-D37823E4768A.jpeg Not the boss but basic AD practical use settings for the fattening effect.
    The fattening effect is AKA that faux reverb.
    The 80 is 600ms and the 900 is 900ms IIRC so the delay time is similar with knobs looking different.
    The old old 18v AD80 has a touchy blend (AKA mix/ delay level etc) knob and I have a hard time getting subtle fattening that doesn’t garble fast passages.

    Intensity = repeats/regeneration
    Echo= effect level
    Repeat rate = delay time. And it's wired "backwards". So as you turn it up, it gets shorter.

    I love how the DM2 sounds but my brain is just not made to process that much "complexity" (ha) in real time on stage. So I use a DD3.
