I've walked out of GC plenty of times because of all the idiots thinking it's a performance hall and not a music store. Hate it.

That guy is the reason I carry a pair of hearos when I go to guitar stores. I know I can leave but sometimes you can't get out fast enough. And I would like to have enough of my high end left to do a mix.

Drums, eh? Folks, I think we found @northernguitar 's skinman. Sounds like the Tequila was a hit.

I managed a store in the early nineties. All of the guitar amps were plugged into power strips that were connected to extension cords, which all ran behind the counter. I had power strips on the floor that the extension cords were plugged in to, so I could tap the rocker switch with my toe and cut power to the amps without anybody realizing that I did it.
I found this to be an effective way of dealing with certain people.

    Saturday? Never!
    YMMV

This is the man who should be in charge of ejecting players who get too loud.

I've been in guitar shops where staff was offended by loud guitar.
Guys and gals need a new line of work if they find loud guitar that offensive.
I've regularly shopped and bought at guitar shops where a buyer interested in a Bluesbreaker combo turned it up to try with his guitar.
Not all day and not for amusement, but it's a legit need for any buyer of an amp, to hear it loud.
After 5-10 minutes, tell the customer to turn down, but let guitar be loud too.
    WTF is up with humans?
Guitar players offended by every damn thing they encounter coming to complain about it here?
I'm offended by so much offense!

As far as trying an amp or guitar in a shop with five other guys playing fairly loud?
I find performing on a loud stage harder, because I have to be in tune in time and the right volume.
    Trying guitars and amps?
    Good heavens man up!
    Acoustics?
They usually have a room for that or you go in the morning.
    Timid player?
    Go in the morning!

    Cutting contest?
Lighten up and have some fun!

If get off my lawn is the new normal, stay away from brick & mortar retailers!
Buy online and then post pics of micro blemishes for us to commiserate with your pain!

As far as the guy being "too high"?

Everywhere I breathe these days I'm breathing that stuff.
Driving home from work last night with my car windows closed, the smoke (I presume from the car ahead of me) made my my car smell like it was ME smoking in the car. At the grocery store parking lot, same thing, random car opens and pig pen billows out in a haze of sweet smelling skunks.
When I did that I do recall a sense that any old drivel was awesome.
Glad I came to my senses on using chemicals to enhance my sense of what's awesome!
