He did warn me it’s a ‘front of chain only’ beast. No low z into it! The Lotus was not so finicky but the British Octah just had that weird aggressive and magic complexity thing.
Part of the Moollon high price is that there are only 4 employees and they hand make them. They even hand wind the transformers etc to meet the original component spec, blessed by Buddhist monks blah blah. I am new to the whole fuzz world but this one has that weird Hendrix, Doyle, Eric ‘about to explode’ thing that’s really hard for me to describe. I always say this, but, when I get home I will make a demo of this pedal, if only because it’s too hard for me to describe..
BTW I tried out a few other Moollon pedals while I was there. The Sol Fuzz was really cool, their distortion is great and they make a spot on Shin-ei Uni Vibe pedal that is superb (but ridiculously expensive). Just killer brand of pedals though! If you see one please check it out!

Got home from Korea today and found out I will be returning on the 28th (yes, Thanksgiving day) for ten more days. So the saga continues. I will see if I can parlay this into a chance to score that Moollon wah pedal....

I was in Korea about 3 years ago and was able to go to Nakwon Music Mall. It is astoundingly large. I made video about it:

I hope to have time to go by there again on my my way back in two weeks!![/QUOTE]

That's like a nightmare... way too much choice for me

Very, very cool. I love the idea of made by hand and the boxes themselves are beautiful. I spent several years in and out of Asia and it never occurred to me (while drinking beer) to check out the guitar stores...I'd be dead broke now if I had. It is something to look forward to should I ever go again.

I just spent a couple of hours with my very first two fuzzes, the Fulltone ‘69 and the British Octah. Set the ‘fuzz’ level low (like none) on the BO to get the most octave/ring mod effect and into the ‘69 set to heavy fuzz and instantly wrote a song. With the volume rolled back it gets cleaner yet crazier as there are overtone notes everywhere. Very cool sounding. It’s basically the Purple Haze solo setting but rolled back a bit for chords. I have to very much ‘play to the pedal’ to keep it clean and avoid certain note combos but it’s so inspiring. I can feel myself slipping down the rabbit hole. I can now cover some sounds that were alway a mystery to me.
Here is a gut shot of the Moollon BO for those interested.

Speaking of Hendrix, listening to Jimi stuff on the flight home it struck me how clean his guitars actually are most of the time. Went into Hendrix research mode and found this EweToob vid. Stuff I never knew.

Nakwon Arcade pro tip (I have lived here 20+ years, currently am about 4 subway stops away) go upstairs to the other floors for more. 2nd floor has some more guitars, percussion stuff, 3rd floor and up has some repairs. Enjoy.

Well, no Nakhon Sanga Music Mall this trip to Korea :(, so no pricey rare Moollon pedal this trip. I did walk to the little music store from the beginning of this thread and bought a Moore Hustle Drive. I have never even heard one but I knew it is supposed to be an OCD copy, so, there ya go. I got it for my mini jam board. Anybody got one of these? Thoughticles?

Ok, I may never leave here!! Flew all the way to the airport in Seoul and were about to check our bags in when we were suddenly called and asked to support ground and flight testing. Now we won’t leave until Saturday. This means I might get to Nakwon after all. I really want to score another Moollon creation!!!

As resident Moollon staff member who lurks around, I apologize for being out of the TDPRI loop for far too long, but if I knew in advance that you were here, I could help you score some of the more in-demand discontinued pedals like the Classic Series Delay, Aquarius Delay, or possible one of the NOS transistor fuzzes...all on the very active used pedal market. They don't pop up all the time, but nonetheless I can sometimes find many of them.

Truth be told, the market has changed so much since Moollon boss YJ Park started everything back in 2002, and he has rather spent 99% of the last decade building his guitars and basses (which are in very high demand, especially as he can only make up to 6 dozen or so per year), and builds maybe only a dozen or two pedals per year, many of the original lineup of which are already discontinued. Being one man who does everything Moollon, he admittedly has needed to focus on where the demand is the highest...which is no longer his pedals.

Unfortunately I have a fulltime studio job in Gangnam and am not usually in the shop, but if you were around until Sunday and you had the time I could probably escort you out to NW Seoul to see the Moollon shop with some of the more limited-release pedals, not to mention YJ's wonderful vintage-spec T-Classics and S-Classics to try out on his own handwired amps. It's a proper playground.
