Impossible to boil down David Bowie and his VAST output to just one song. But if I were to do so...

...I think everybody who is a Bowie fan would agree on THIS one being his very best.

I still get emotional hearing "Life on Mars" it's such a brilliant song.

And for good measure, let's have the "Naked" version too.

I've always liked Slow Burn; it has elements of most all of Bowie's work. That's Pete Townshend on guitar...he sounds like Reeves Gabrels here.

I don't know how to post songs,
    But choosing just one:

    " Space Oddity "

    - and close behind ( just me) are:
" Rebel Rebel" and " Young Americans"

He had some really great, powereful pop songs, all over the place musically

I've gotta throw my hat in the ring and suggest the Sweet Thing suite. That's Sweet Thing/Candidate/Sweet Thing (Reprise) for the uninitiated.

Some of the best music I know, and some of the best Bowie out there.

Station to Station. It really shows off his range and dynamics!

“Star”. Great song and a self fulfilled prophecy...”Just watch me now.” Damn.

For me, it's the studio version of "Heroes," which is a magical track all around.

100% with you Blazer. The Bowie song for me and the missus. If I had to pick a second, it'd be a pretty close one with Heroes.

This version of "Mars" specifically shows what a great song it is, circa 2005. I'd say it held up under age and that minimal arrangement. Tears every time, especially since his passing.

I would also vote for this one.

My last dog got diabetes and so I would have to take her to the vet a lot to get her blood sugar checked while we were trying to nail down her insulin levels. So the distance from my house to the vet was just about the length of Station to Station. So I would play it every time and that was our vet song. Brings a tear to my eye most of the time.

Always loved Mick Ronson on guitar and really dug Bowie’s period with him the most. He added a muscular rock element to Bowie’s music that made it more complete, IMO.

“Changes” is Bowie’s essence in a song, if I had to choose. It’s not a deep cut and maybe it’s too easy of a pick. But everything about it, melody/mood/a little weirdness/bipolarness/catchy is uniquely Bowie without trying too hard.

He's got so many...and if I were to pick one it would be the following. Even the title of the song pulls me in.

Life on Mars is definitely a solid tune. I always liked Suffragette City too.

I’ll throw a wildcard in for his Christmas duet with Bing Crosby. Haha

Eight Line Poem. I really like the guitar. I’m going to go with Rock ‘N’ Roll Suicide.
