Idiom and slang and catchphrases exist for a reason.

They convey a range of meanings and personality. Someone may be nervous or they may be concentrating on many things at once and not metering every word in real time. Or it may be entirely deliberate.

Unless it obscures meaning or is disingenuous (unless it is delicious and deliberate irony), what of it?

Maybe smoke more weed and it will relax some of ya'll a bit more.

Falls off a high horse can be a *****.

Right. Let's "circle back later," and hopefully you forget we were ever talking about this in the first place. Otherwise we might need to circle back again.

Serious question - do you run a lot of meetings? Sometimes people just need a way to move on from things others are stuck on, without shutting them down or offending them too much.

I hope you know I enjoy your perspective and am not being critical. Just sharing mine.

No I don't run any meetings,
I'm just a gigging guitar player, and Uber driver.

( a real Peter Pan who escaped the world of responsibility, honest!- not saying it was a good idea, but that's where I am- being responsible, accountable in another life got me nowhere, just drained )

And I understand the value of the phrase, really. Just not in my environment.

We are not allowed to discuss politics here, but let's just say I do follow them, and the phrase is being used ad nauseam, by certain folks daily, and it gets to me.

Yep, my kids say it all the time, and in English UK it sounds horrendous, so I've banned them from using the word super, forever in my house, and it's my house, so there...

So, what is your ask here? If you will just put in the effort it's a win-win situation if you think outside the box and grab the low-hanging fruit. Let's take this offline so we can take it to the next level. However, I'm not sure that this is actionable since we don't have the bandwidth. We can put it in the pipeline and run it up the flagpole and see what transpires. Make sure you put your ducks in a row first. My door is always open.

Stringing all of that together really emphasizes the absurdity of business lingo. I truly have no idea what the hell you just said, and I don't know if I want to laugh at you or punch you.

I’m glad to see so many people here onboarding this paradigm.

My big question is, who goes to a meeting and actually hears what is said? I never have.

I'm now very super excited that I don't have to attend anymore business meetings. Thanks for reminding me why I retired so early.

Now if @USian Pie and @telemnemonics were in the same meeting room, I'd pay to attend.

Too true and there's a pill for that too.

I mean the pill to counteract it, not the pill to increase it.

I work in the nuclear industry. It's a little known fact that atoms can only be split in an atmosphere of continuous streams of inane, banal and utterly (super-)meaningless phrases.

I work with a guy I call the "nuclear phrase generator" who circles back around and gets his nickel back so he can be super-excited about the latest one-off technique.

I can honestly say the best thing about working from home most of the time is that I can laugh out loud at things I previously could only roll my eyes at, after checking that I'm still on mute, of course.

When I hear that phrase, it usually means things for employees will be at least a bit worse....
