I mean this thing shows up on my Television. It's 90% stuff I don't care about and it's loud and annoying. Sheesh.

I told DTV that I was moving to Germany when I cancelled....I didn't get the proverbial "what can we do to keep you" that way. LOL we just use over the air antennae and it is great and FREE!

    cheers

I wish some company (Apple has rumored about it for a couple of years) would just let you choose an a la carte option and just pay for what you want.

Unfortunately whenever this happens the prices will still mysteriously be in the $100 range.

Never happen. The channel owners want to sell blocks of channels to the cable company. Sometimes, it's not so bad, as they're trying to subsidize less popular channels to keep them going. Mostly, it's just about money.

We have the teach today to just track what and when people are watching. Wouldn't it be nice if you just got charged for what you actually watched? Yeas, except that the bill would still be $100 no matter what.

You know you can hook up an antenna now and get HDTV for free. There's less choices, but like you said, cable is 90% garbage anyway.

Sling TV does that. The base service is like $20, then you add the extra channels you want on top of that.

Here in Canada the cable companies had to offer a la carte. The cable companies just priced it so the a la carte is quite a bit more than basic.

There's nothing in TV anymore worth paying $130+ a month for. I cut the cord in 2012 and haven't missed it since.

This month, I'm celebrating 3 years without TV...admittedly, I like me some TV, but despise the players with the local cable monopolie's. Besides, when the weather's good, I don't watch much.

Yup, between that and Roku we cut the cord last year and have never looked back. There are lots of shows we enjoy watching so we have a few subscriptions -- Hulu, Netflix and Amazon Prime (which we had anyway). We're still saving about $100 a month over DTV, we have to wait to see our shows (took a long time for the final season of Mad Men to finally make it to Netflix), but we manage to keep ourselves entertained. I also enjoy watching guitar lessons on YouTube on the big screen. Tim Lerch alone will keep you busy for ages! :)
