I love it, too!
Besides all that, evabody know Elvis done wrote this song when he was in there scribbling on the toilet paper.
TD, you gonna get hung with a fake noose.
One of my favorite songs by one of my favorite songwriters.
One of the bands that I do a few gigs with covers it. A great song to play and sing!
Ahhh yes, my theme song. I know it all too well.
Thread idea! What song could be your theme song?
Hank Williams is one of America's great poets and I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry is one of his absolute best.
As close to perfection as one can get in my estimation. Hillbilly Shakespeare.
Got a question about this beautiful song...
On Hanks' recording the line, "That means he's lost the will to live" always sounded like "Like me, he's lost the will to live". Anyone else hear that? I sometimes use that line when I sing it - it's kind of dark and chilling, and makes me think of his untimely demise.
Hmmm, I’ve always sang “like me...”
Yeah, Paul Gilley died at 27 of drowning. Sad...
What else he might have written. . . .
This has me thinking about the segment in the Ken Burns documentary, that had A.C. Carter roaming the countryside looking for songs he could buy.
On the Ken Burns Doc, Hank is quoted as saying "I don't write 'em, I just hang on to the pen and God sends 'em through," which is one of the coolest songwriting quotes around, even if it's total BS.
That particular one is not my favorite, but a bunch of others are.
Cool? BS is BS
Ooooo, are we gonna get all theological here now!?
I'm all for the truth and facts when we're discussing public policy. A throwaway quote on the artistic process from a long-dead country singer? Bring it on.
I have too much respect for songwriters to belittle their effort.
