The last 3 or 4 visits to e-bay has me proving I'm not a Robot, by clicking on pic's with a feature.

I've had this before, but really ...... every time I log in?

    What's going on

Same here. It's very annoying. The last time it happened it just kept cycling through through the puzzle piece that you have to move over and over again even though I got the green checkmark every time....I never did get into Ebay.

I can never get past those captcha pictures. No matter what I click it just puts up more pictures, until I get bored and give up.

So, like getbent, you're also a robot.
However, getbent has become self-aware. Unfortunately (for you) you have not come that realization.

Websites can use a few methods of determining if you are a robot or not. Often it is just done by tracking your mouse movements. If they are erratic enough you are human. If it cannot determine it, you get a few pictures where you have to pick the ones with features in it. But sometimes they just throw in the pictures test, just because.

Have you noticed that those pictures all have to do with traffic situations? Pick the pictures with cars in it. Pick the pictures with traffic lights. Pick the pictures with motorcycles. Etc. They use these picture tests, not to prove you are not a robot, but to train the image recognition software used for self-driving vehicles. The computer has made a guess which pictures contain traffic lights and you, the human, have to tell the computer if it has done a good job or not.

Don't be mad about having to "proof you are not a robot", because you are making traffic safer for all of us! You are doing computers and humanity alike a service*!

*) until the singularity and the following robot uprising. Hopefully the computers will look with kindness on you for all the service you have done them, and not torture you too much when they take over.

Lately I seem to be asked to pick photos of buses!
If you’re working on a phone they’re near impossible to pick out.

The singularity comes when artificial intelligence can identify pictures of parked cars better than a human.

I think that, at least for most males anyway, they should have you select the pictures with 'the pole dancer boobies'....fire hydrants? C'mon!!!

I had a feeling you might be...I've noticed that all your posts leave a faint lingering odour of WD-40 and circuit board etchant.
